August 31st was a day of freedom protests across Australia in front of government legislative buildings at the state and local level.
Some protests also reported in New Zealand.
Hundreds at the New South Wales legislative building in Sydney.
Police in New South Wales responding to protests at 79 different locations.
At least one arrest was made by police outside the Lismore Council Chambers.
The police in New South Wales have so far reported more than 150 arrests and more than 570 "penalty infringement notices" imposing multi-thousand dollar fines on the recipients.
The protests at multiple locations in New South Wales many near the northern border with Queensland and in Queensland itself outside the legislative building in Brisbane.
Mainstream media describing the crowd in the hundreds in Brisbane but also reporting a "lockdown" at the legislative building asserting the crowd was threatening to breach the building.
Back in New South Wales the Byron Shire Council chambers the site of a mass protest involving hundreds of people. Byron Shire a border area community in the northern part of the state.
Meanwhile in Brisbane this group of protesters were outside the Governor General's residence.
Making an appearance in northern New South Wales on his horse Michael Corrigan ("The Lone Horseman"). An earlier appearance by Corrigan riding his horse netted him a 7000 dollar fine (5119.26 US dollars).
And at the border between the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland this huge procession of protesters...
What we are learning is that this protest was called as a "silent protest" and that it encompassed not just locations in Australia but New Zealand as well.
Two women, one in Australia and the other in New Zealand, described as "leaders" of the protest were arrested.
"At the moment you are under arrest for incitement"...

The protest today was a “silent protest” but it demonstrated that when you have 79 different places to go to it makes it a tough go for the police.
I’m certain thousands participated but the police could only group and make arrests and hand out fines in the more urbanized areas but in the rural north they were outnumbered.
“and take their guns.”
Why stop there? Strip the off naked as they were at birth. Put their cuffs on them and step them free in front of the news/propaganda crews. Come to think on it, give the propagandists the same treatment.
Mass non-violent protest would present a challenge to police but it only seems to be possible in rural New South Wales at this point and in the northern border regions where the lockdown has hurt people big time in their pocketbooks.
The Australian government is pulling out all the stops on protesters. They call in every officer they can get from anyplace they can. If they have a Department of Weights and Measures, those agents were out arresting protesters.
As long as these protesters are allowing themselves to be arrested, they’re losing. They need to start ‘making it difficult’ for the police to do anything with them.
At this point, they’re still trying peaceful protest and passive resistance. However, it seems to be making no impression on the Australian governments, except to make them call out more force to suppress their citizens.
This is not going to end well. At some point, people are going to stop being peaceful.
Whatever happened to the trucker strike?
