Seems pretty mild compared to the times of the black plague, mongol horde invasions, chinese cultural revolution, etc..

In re God killing v man killing -
I have no idea whether these are the end times. So I am not defending that idea.
But judgement as recorded in scripture generally involves death of people. From the fall to the flood to plagues to God directed wars. This isn’t news. God is the giver and the only valid taker of life.
If we take a human life it is only with His permission or direction. Self defense, just war, genuinely involuntary manslaughter. That’s it.
Or, looked at another way, God has taken His hand of mercy off a wicked land and the results are the kinds of natural disasters He had been sparing that land in the past because there once was a time when they acknowledged Him.
This is the Black Swan Event the lost have no clue about.
