First, last month still saw sales of some 2.2 million units in total, exceeding every year prior to 2020. Moreover, for the first three quarters of 2021, firearms sales reached nearly 30.5 million – compared to 28.6 million for the same period a year earlier. Clearly, that was the result of the pandemic, followed by a wave of violent protests across the country that occurred following the killing of George Floyd over Memorial Day weekend 2020.
It is true as well that last year’s fourth-quarter sales were strong, driven in no small part to the election of President Joe Biden, who campaigned on calls for gun control. Biden continued to press forward after taking office, which certainly explains the strong sales in the first half of this year.

** Ping **
I lost interest of this over the past 3 months or so but now I’m having a feeling, that late fall, it will be all of our interest again…
I don’t ping for blog pimps, thanks.
I could care less about the guns........I do want to know when the ammo rush will end.
You mean late fall next next year, election time.
;-) Sorry, I didn’t realize that the poster was a blog pimp. ;-)
No. Gunbuyers are becoming more particular in their purchases.
AMMO! WE NEED MORE AMMO! NOW!
Got all the guns I need, I NEED AMMO!
Do they actually pay somebody to come up with pap this inane?
Ammo is getting better all the time.
I checked the local Academy a few days ago, they had a couple more rifle calibers showing up, a few boxes of .45 ACP, plenty 9mm and some .22LR, but no .380 or .22mag, which I still need a few. Some .40 cal too usually but not a lot.
Still no .38 or .357 showing up yet, no.32 or .25, any other less popular pistol rounds. I haven’t seen any .243 in ages, but the very popular .223 and 5.56 are usually there these days. A few 10mm now and then but very few.
Compared to 6 months ago, it’s lots better now, at that time the shelves were totally bare, at opening time the line outside the door was 75 to 100 feet long and if you want your *one* box of ammo, you better be in it. 4 cases of 9mm gone in 15 minutes. Now their limit is 4 boxes rifle and pistol, and 10 boxes of shotgun shells. 6 months ago it was one of each. Yes you could get one box rifle/pistol and one box shotgun.
One day even a couple of local cops were in line. They said they were able to get ammo through official channels, but not enough to get in some range time. So they came to academy to try and stock up a little. I didn’t ask, but I’d almost bet academy gave cops a break and let them have more than one box...
It still needs to improve, but it’s getting a lot better. I saw 9mm stay on the shelf for 2 days a couple of weeks ago. That’s a big improvement...
I can only do so much! Guys, help me out! Buy a rifle or two.

He is equating NICS background checks with gun sales.
They are not the same. Over half of NICS checks in the last few years have been for carry permit checks and rechecks.
Cut his numbers in half, and they are not too far off.
