That’s a fact. Cultural icons last at best 30 years. I have a feeling that this new DC looney left is getting a bit rejected though, so the source may bounce back after another 5-10 years.
However, it’s very hard to say now. Social leftism is pretty much the only thing that’s ‘in style’ for awhile and will stay so.
