Agreed. Still very worthwhile.
If you’ve never read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s historic novels, I’d recommend those. Much better than the Sherlock Holmes stuff, for my tastes. The White Company and then the prequel, Sir Nigel. And the Brigadier Gerard stories.
There are a bunch of great short histories of the WWII island battles commissioned by the Marines. Also recommended.
