Young set new school records for touchdown passes and passing yards against the Bearcats
Alabama Rolls Past Cincinnati, 27-6, In College Football Playoff Semifinal
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is now the single-season record holder in Tuscaloosa for touchdown passes and passing yards in a single season after setting both records during the Cotton Bowl vs. No. 4 Cincinnati. Young surpassed Tua Tagovailoa's previous record of 43 passing touchdowns in the first quarter when he hit Slade Bolden from eight yards out on the first drive of the game to give the top-ranked Crimson Tide a 7-0 lead over the Bearcats.
It took Tagovailoa 15 games to accumulate those 43 touchdown passes in 2018, which saw the Crimson Tide fall to Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Young, however, was able to break the record in 14 games. Here's a look at the record-breaking toss -- the only one Young attempted on the opening drive.

The sensational QB then broke the Alabama single-season passing yardage record in the fourth quarter, eclipsing the 4,500 mark set by Mac Jones last year. Young entered the game with 4,322 yards and hit Cameron Latu for a nine-yard touchdown to push his single-season total to 4,503 yards early in the fourth quarter.

What a snooze fest. Pretty much what I expected.

College football, if you can call it that, has fewer entertaining games.
Come January 10th, another chance for Kirby Smart to lose to his old mentor.
Iâll pass, and find something else to do. SEC football is so dominant, it will hurt the interest in college football.
They stopped them on third down. So only down by 17.
They could expand the playoff to five teams by having the loser of the SEC championship play the SEC team that finished second in the other division in one quarter final, the top two non-SEC teams play each other in the other quarter final, the winners play each other in the semi-final, with the winner of this playing the winner of the SEC championship game for the national title.
If Cincinnati were playing in the SEC I rather doubt it would have made the playoff under the above format—and the above quarterfinals and the semifinal would likely all be more interesting than at least one and likely both of the semifinals are going to be this year.
A Georgia-Alabama rematch will be fun to watch, but there is a better way to get there, and a load of SEC matchups that would be more fun to watch than the two powerhouses prepping to death to ensure that they will meet each resulting in about as much drama as Sherman going through Georgia. Georgia vs. Ole Miss to play the winner of Michigan vs. either Baylor or Oklahoma State would result in four games worth watching.
"Belichick and Saban have been adapting for the entire 21st century for that matter, and it leads to ridiculous hypotheticals. It does not matter if this Alabama offense isnât the record-setting version like 2020. It doesnât matter if this Crimson Tide team isnât better than the other six national championship teams under Saban. It does not matter that this semifinal wasnât aesthetically pleasing to the casual viewer.

Alabama is so dominant. That said, while I pull for the Tide, if I had to lay money on the game, it would be on Georgia.
The Iron Bowl game struck me as more typical of where Alabama is this season than the SEC championship, which seemed to me more like Alabama’s best game of the season (and Georgia’s worst). I expect that they will revert to mean.

I think every time two SEC teams that previously played each other played again in the playoff, the team that lost the first game won the playoff game.

It is hard to determine which team is better when they have so many players out with the death virus or sitting out for their tryout for the National Felonâs League. In my opinion, they should be required to play.

I believe so. A contract is a contract. It is definitely turning into a minor league for the NFL, which is sad.
Cincinnati is not quite ready for prime time. But few teams are at Alabama’s level. The rematch with the Dawgs should be good.
