New York City: Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss
Red State ^ | 01/01/2022 | Bonchie

Three things are certain in life: Death, taxes, and Democrats governing like far-left, dictatorial loons.

Case in point? New York City got the first taste of its new boss today, and not shockingly at all, he’s pretty much the same as the old boss. After being sworn in shortly after midnight, Eric Adams opened up his term by signing two executive orders and taking to social media to brag about them.

The first granted himself emergency powers to essentially do whatever he wants. The other re-upped the beleaguered city’s vaccine passport system.

The first Executive Order will continue the existing state of emergency orders put in place by the previous administration.

The second order will extend the Key to the City order, which requires proof of vaccination for several indoor settings. pic.twitter.com/hQZOB6cEd0

So, how well is that much-lauded vaccine passport system (plus all the other emergency measures) working out for the Big Apple? In a phrase, not very well, and I’m not sure I could understate things more if I tried. Only Washington, D.C., is currently seeing a worse COVID-19 outbreak, and in New York City, cases are up 1,342 percent since the implementation of the vaccine passport system under Bill de Blasio.

Cases in New York City are up 1,342% since vaccine passports started and an astonishing 861% in only 2.5 weeks since the mask mandate started, but I really do believe if we just exclude some more people from restaurants and mask a little harder we can finally beat this thing pic.twitter.com/diWf6yRcvl

Normal, sane people would look at those results and come to the realization that vaccine passports are incredibly dumb and only serve to hurt people and businesses, while accomplishing nothing of value in regards to COVID. Yet, Adams is not a normal, sane person. Rather, he’s your run-of-the-mill, liberal Democrat that doesn’t have the political backbone to actually govern in a logical manner. The only difference between de Blasio and Adams is that the latter made some rumblings about getting crime under control, which is another major issue in the city is dealing with.

Does anyone want to place a wager on whether Adams even keeps his word on getting tough on crime? Yeah, I didn’t think so. He’ll be stumping to “reimagine” the police within six months.

As to New York City’s vaccine mandate, which was officially put in place right before de Blasio left office, Adams vowed to revisit it during his campaign. But with today’s move on vaccine passports, you can probably guess how he’ll come down on the issue of mandates.

And all the while, Adams’ city will continue to circle the drain, seeing businesses go bankrupt, tourism drop, students suffer, and COVID spread. He had a chance to be different, but instead, he went down the same path Democrats always go down once they actually take office. Never buy into the “sane Democrat” argument during a political campaign. They will always let you down.

You know, Lee Zelden or one of the NY Republicans in the state legislature should have been groomed to run for Mayor. Even Guiliani's son should have ran, instead of running for Governor.

Curtis Silwa is a nice guy and a New Yorker through-and-through, but c'mon. We all knew he was going to get blown out, which he did.

The GOP have got to start making inroads into these Rat run hellholes and start grooming candidates and back them to the hilt. Hell, I don't care if they are RINOs or support homo marriage & abortion, like Rudy was. If they are pro-business and tough on crime, as well as supporting school choice they would win.

This is more of a failure of the GOP which focuses on federal races rather than turning blue areas red.

Adams is just a another racist grifter. Trolling both sides of the street. Nothing in NYC will get better. Adams is a mental midget, a willing puppet who could not function without someone pulling his strings.

I have come along long way since 911 2001.
I no longer give a rats ass if New York City gets nuked and the survivors strafed.

Rudy won because NYC was really bad and it was like that for a while. Yeah, NYC was hit hard by the virus and the recent crime wave but all of that happened yesterday and it didn’t really impact enough people to convince them to consider to vote for GOP. Maybe if things get worse, they might change their minds.

I agree with you, but my point is that the Republican Party is passing up a golden opportunity by not recruiting good candidates to run in big city Mayoral races.
