The Atlantic last week hosted a conference titled “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” at the University of Chicago, where I’m a student. Barack Obama, Amy Klobuchar, Anne Applebaum, Jeffrey Goldberg, Ben Smith, Brian Stelter, and other boldface names studded the program, alongside many lesser-known members of the prestige press. They would gather, as a news release put it, to explore “the organized spread of disinformation and strategies to respond to it.”
The Atlantic gabfest was billed as a space for rigorous dialogue, where the light of truth would scatter the darkness of disinformation. But the dialogue and criticism, it turned out, didn’t extend to the blue-check media’s own role in proliferating disinformation.
Even before the event got underway, I was skeptical. The conference struck me as one more chance for America’s corporate class to collect fat honorarium checks in exchange for addressing obedient students keen to join that class. My suspicions were soon confirmed. Given the opportunity to ask questions, most of my fellow students lobbed softballs at the speakers, in worshipful tones more befitting a royal audience than a university.

According to Mrzz. Anne Applebaum no one should think the mountains of evidence regarding president potato head’s massive corruption contained on his son’s/business partner’s personal laptop should not have anything to do with `tator head being president.
Perhaps she would (like her “disinformation” conference partner) also find it “darkly humorous” if she becomes the textbook example of the total disregard for constitutional enumerated rights of American Citizens by the elite progs that also believe themselves above it all.

They feel fully qualified and justified to make that decision about what is justified and appropriate for all of us.
They are neither qualified nor justified, but millions of ignorant Americans accept the propaganda they create and disseminate as the truth.

Applebaum is an educated idiot...period.
She is deeply interested in roasting her favorite chestnut of the USSR 65 to 80 years ago. But all of her studies of the Soviet era are utterly without meaning if she cannot see what DC has become. She cannot see that they are the new USSR. Expansionist, aggressive, a kleptocratic nomenklatura, and revolutionary socialist. DC’s militantly family destroying, alternative sexuality, and atheist policies are shockingly reminiscent of 1920s Soviet policies.

I left a comment on her FB page basically asking her why she calls herself a journalist/writer for truth yet shows bias to the Biden’s.

Amity Shlaes wrote books on the Forgotten Man and Great Society. Pointed out all the wrongs of FDR and LBJ’s policies. So she was happy when Biden gets elected. Go figure.
