May 1st is International Workers’ Day, also known as Labor Day in some countries, is a celebration of laborers and working classes promoted by the international labor movement, socialists, and communists. It occurs every year on the first of May. The day was chosen to honor rioters who killed seven policemen during the Haymarket affair and was promoted by the international communist or socialist movements, which during the 20th century killed at least 94 million people.

That’s right, during the 20th-century, communism, and socialism murdered at least 94 million people. The reason for using both communism and socialism is they are both based on Karl Marx, are bloody, and many Communist regimes call themselves Socialist.

Per the detailed analysis in “The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression” (which should be required reading by every student in America), the number of deaths caused by Communism and Socialism was estimated at 94,360,000, broken down as follows:

USSR — 20 million
China — 65 million
Vietnam — 1 million
North Korea — 2 million
Cambodia — 2 million
Eastern Europe — 1 million
Latin America — 150,000
Africa — 1.7 million
Afghanistan — 1.5 million
Communist and Socialist movements, parties not in power — 10,000

And we have folks here cheering on the Communists Putin and Xi, as Putin attempts to return Soviet rule over Ukraine, and China prepares to attempt to extend CCP rule over Taiwan.

May 1, or “May Day,” was celebrated throughout the Communist world as a way of supposedly honoring the role and importance of laborers in Marxist countries. The Communist conception of work as almost an end in itself was, of course, very different from the Christian understanding, and in 1955, to highlight this difference, Pope Pius XII instituted the feast of St. Joseph the Worker.

Joseph, the husband of Mary and the foster-father of Jesus, spent a lifetime laboring as a carpenter. His primary motivation for working wasn’t a quest for riches or status, but a desire to serve God and to care for his family in a loving way. Joseph never worked any miracles; he never made any important speeches; he wasn’t a public figure, but was known only as a humble carpenter (Matthew 13:55). Joseph labored in obscurity, but was nonetheless given an important part in God’s plan.

Lessons 1. Work is not intended to be an end in itself or a path to earthly riches; rather, it’s meant to glorify God and to help us prepare for eternity. As Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be” (Matthew 6:20-21).

2. Honest and humble labor is a source of true human dignity. Though St. Joseph worked as a simple carpenter, he achieved great holiness, and his example influenced Jesus, Who — though the eternal Son of God and the Source of all creation — Himself learned from Joseph and for a time followed in his footsteps as a carpenter (Mark 6:3).

Work is not meant to glorify the State but The Lord.

I would have thought this site would always uplift and carry on the tradition of Reagan. Apparently, not so much these days...

Beyond the deaths there was the mental enslavement of millions

I live in Poland a d interact with Poles. Those below 35 have a different mindse

Those a over 35 had to go through a horrible mental experience.

Do watch the mini series Chernobyl. This shows the mentality in the USSR.

GDR and Albania were as bad, Poland was better, but they all suffered.

Communism is a failed, evil philosophy.

Why
People still support something that history has shown was a failure is beyond belief.
