“For us [Russia], the war in Ukraine … is a rehearsal for a possibly larger conflict in the future,” a top Russian political scientist warned on the Russian-state TV talk show “60 Minutes.”
Alexei Fenenko, a research fellow at the Institute of International Security Studies, told Olga Skabeyeva, the show’s host, that the invasion of Ukraine was a testing ground of military tactics and equipment for a much broader conflict, one that could potentially involve NATO.
“And that is why we’ll test and go up against NATO weapons, and will see on the battlefield how much stronger our weapons really are compared to theirs … maybe it will be a learning experience for a future conflict,” Fenenko said.
The host of the show, Skabeyeva, interrupted Fenenko, conveying how this is “a terrifying experiment.”
The video clip of Fenenko expressing his views of a possibly much larger conflict was first shared in the US by The Daily Beast’s Julia Davis on Thursday.

Fenenko’s comments come after Margarita Simonyan, journalist and editor-in-chief of RT, discussed the possibility of conflict outside of Ukraine and said a nuclear war would be okay because “we’re all going to die someday.”
Simonyan added: War with “Europe and the world” was “inevitable.”
One of Russia’s most high-tech weapons it has tested in Ukraine is hypersonic missiles.

The threat of a broader conflict spilling over from Ukraine has likely pushed Finland and Sweden to apply for NATO membership last week.
NATOs war capability will collapse in months without oil Russian oil and gas.
The bluffs are just getting less and less credible.
If Russia actually tries to take on NATO by themself, for all their bureaucratic faults), get out your 2 million sunblock, because it’s not going to end well, either for Putin, or for the world. Either way, he will lose. The only question is, will he smash the game board.
All Russia has accomplished is that it has shown the world, especially China, that the Russian conventional military is not the juggernaut once so feared and respected. It has given a whole new perspective to NATO and Europe. The Chinese realize that attacking over 90 miles of open ocean with their combat inexperienced army and untested equipment is not sure to be successful. However they can’t help but look at Russia’s underpopulated Siberian treasure house, Russia’s rich far Pacific lands and Russia’s very limited ability to defend them in a whole new light.

Of course he would. I don’t know Putin personally but I highly doubt he cares about the well-being of a world without him in. The vast majority of national leaders are sociopathic. One of my favorite quotes is, “anyone fit to be president is unfit to be president”.
Putin will absolutely turn the table over.
Well, we know China is aligned with Russia and supporting Russia and is also learning from this conflict.
For the USA aligned axis and the China aligned axis, the whole intent of this is WWIII and it really has nothing to do with Ukraine’s sovereignty - something they will never achieve now.
Ukraine war is simply a catalyst and that’s why we’re paying for the proxy to fight it.
Nobody will win in this. All of mankind will lose. It’s going to be just horrible for the world. So much death and misery coming.
So was Hitler in 1939. His non-aggression pact worked great until he invaded in June 1941.
“All Russia has accomplished is that it has shown the world that the Russian conventional military is not the juggernaut once so feared.”
Yes, in some ways we should be grateful to Putin. After our debacles in the Middle East our enemies began to think we were weak they could take advantage.
This conflict is a useful corrective. In a conventional war the combined forces of NATO can still dominate any opponent on the planet.
These mudak pizdobols can’t defeat Ukraine and now they want to take on all thirty nations of NATO? LOL!!!
Do you suppose foreign tyrants--and everyone else--viewed the USA as a deteriorating world power,
crumbling under the weight of its own decadence,its once might military lead by feckless fools and stocked with homosexuals, transvestites, and pregnant women;
its mighty economy, which won the Cold War, kowtowing to the most ridiculous excesses of wokeism, Mickey Mouse for example succumbing to gender dysphoria;
its borders wide-open,
its streets littered with human excrement and drug paraphernalia,
half its population stymied by which bathroom and which gender pronoun to use?
Do you suppose foreign tyrants saw this as evidence that the Greatest Nation in History was paralyzed by decadence and too sick to defend itself?
Do you suppose this caused Putin to peel off his mask and reveal the monster he actually was?
Do you suppose this is responsible for his attack on Ukraine and all the resulting atrocities?
Do you suppose the attack on Ukraine was a testing of the waters? And that a war against NATO is the real objective?
Do you suppose the Chinese Communists see the same golden opportunity?
Do you suppose other foreign tyrants are thinking the same thing?
He looks like Curly. Hey Moe, hey Larry!
All conflicts are dress rehearsals, or test beds for weapon systems and tactics.
About the only good side that I can see to any War if there could actually be a good side... is the advancement in medical procedures and techniques.

How does the Ukrainians defensive engagements at this point change the way our enemies think about the US?
We’re not even really engaged there, we have no skin in the game with the exception of some weapons & advisers.
I have always said that the Pacific is Chinas back door. They are looking at everything east of the Ural Mountains and licking their chops.
“How does the Ukrainians defensive engagements at this point change the way our enemies think about the US?”
By looking at how we did against similar enemies. The Iraqi Army in 1990 had most of the same gear as the Ukrainians do today only it was newer. We rolled over them like a tank on a tomato.
Hush, Neocon
This is for all of you people who don’t think we have an interest in supporting Ukraine, where on earth are your minds?
It probably is because that is what the Biden regime and NATO want. That is the part the neocons slugs here don’t grasp.
