Starbucks CEO Considers Walking Back ‘Open Bathroom’ Policy To Protect Customers

Starbucks considers walking back its “all inclusive” bathroom policy, first instituted in 2018 following the arrest of two black men at a store in Philadelphia who were denied bathroom use until they made a purchase.

The policy was an unmitigated disaster as Starbucks bathrooms in some areas of the country transformed into homeless shelters and a safe space for drug addicts to shoot up.

CEO Howard Schultz appears to have found a possible out to reverse former CEO Kevin Johnson’s disastrous open bathroom policy.

Speaking on Thursday at NYTimes‘ DealBook D.C. policy forum, Schultz said increasing threats to public safety and an expanding mental health crisis have made it challenging for employees to manage stores under open bathroom policies. He said the decision was an “issue of just safety.”

“We have to harden our stores and provide safety for our people,” the CEO of America’s largest coffee chain said. “I don’t know if we can keep our bathrooms open.”

One example of how the policy backfired was in 2019 at shops across the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan region, where employees complained about possible exposure to HIV/AIDS, Hep C, Hep B, etc., after drug addicts used bathrooms to shoot up heroin and left behind dirty needles.

Schultz’s possible policy reversal for stores nationwide comes as execs at the coffee chain realize that allowing non-paying ones at risk of violence.

Everywhere you look, things are falling apart.
It is difficult to be civilized to the uncivilized.
Democrat controlled cities demonstrate that everyday.

It’s just terrifying for these people when reality intrudes on “the agenda.”

So they’re admitting they made foolish decisions.

“Democrat controlled cities“

Democrat controlled anything.
The radical regressives (yes they are regressive) who run the Dem party have brought catastrophic, culture ending results to anything they touch.

For #2, there’s no place like home.

When I was going to college, there was a bathroom up in the library stacks, down a hall, around a corner, behind some old bookcases... It was always pristine, I may be the only person who knew it was there, besides the cleaning staff.

I’m still a bit shocked that the feminazis haven’t called out Starbucks for their logo. If fins were legs, what would be the meaning of the pose? It doesn’t take much imagination.

And at the time Starbucks made this decision, everybody on this site completely predicted the outcome. Heck even a small child could have anticipated the consequences, but woke Starbuck barreled ahead with significant overtures of haughty moral superiority.

It was the right thing to do, Starbucks announced. They would do their part to end racism.

Bwahahahaha... like almost every single leftist idea, it appealed to their pre-pubescent emotion, and was predictably an unmitigated disaster.

Any time a pinko proposes a solution, shut that crap down as fast as you can. Every solution they ever propose, anywhere, for everything!

They are libtards, everything must be decided on a minute by minute basis.

A “foolish decision” requires foundation and reasoning, as well as an understanding of words.

yep, how can they change their policy?? How dare they!!!

They decided they had to be liberal, lest some black activists accuse them of racism and discrimination. They can’t walk it back, otherwise they can’t claim that they are liberal.

And it’s a fate worse than death, if any company is accused of being discriminatory nowadays.

Won’t matter...I’ve been done with them for years now. They could station Loni Anderson at the men’s room door passing out paper towels and hugs...I’d buy my coffee at the 7/11.

LOL....that's every single demographic Starbucks supports through their political leanings.

I used to frequent a bar in which the pretty waitress greeted each male customer warmly and kissed him. Her boyfriend, the bartender, didn't seem to mind as it was good for business. Thankfully, no political opinions were involved.
