She sided with the Left over one nexus of issues - I'm aware only of her hatred of President Trump, but there might have been others where she aligned with the Left - but because she has now stood her ground against the Left over this one issue, she will be relegated to the status of a leper.
Whether Donald J. Trump was an effective and capable president is, after all, debatable. I am firmly in the pro-Trump camp, but can respect someone who feels otherwise (short of venom-spewing).
For me, being pro- or anti-Trump is thus not an absolute deal-breaker, in the context of eternal questions.
However, for me, abortion is an eternal issue on which I will not budge - it is a shibboleth. And I cannot imagine myself allying with someone with whom I agree on mere minor issues at the cost of having to tolerate and even condone their opposing views on an eternal issue.
