Sen. Josh Hawley Responds Accordingly After Secretary Xavier Becerra Hints HHS Might Violate Federal Law Over Abortion Ruling

For the last 18 months or so since the Capitol riot, Republicans have been treated to a chorus of hypocritical lectures from Democrats, their NeverTrump allies, and the mainstream media about how it is unconscionable and un-American to “disrespect our sacred institutions” and “undermine our democracy” by doing things Democrats have done in the past like question election results.

Not surprisingly, those “rules” magically fly right out the window when these same Democrats are hit with election results they don’t like or a judicial ruling on which they don’t agree, something we’ve seen play out on a national level in a dangerous way since the Friday Supreme Court ruling where a majority of Justices agreed that Roe v. Wade must be overturned.

For starters, we had Biden DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland pledge in so many words to try and do a Biden-approved end-run around the SCOTUS ruling, proclaiming that the “Justice Department will use every tool at our disposal to protect reproductive freedom,” his statement read. “And we will not waver from this Department’s founding responsibility to protect the civil rights of all Americans.”

Perhaps even more disturbing, however, were comments Health and Human Services Sec. Xavier Becerra made during a Saturday interview at the Aspen Ideas: Health festival when asked by NBC News “reporter” Kate Snow what he was doing “concretely” to try to “help women” in response to the court’s ruling. Becerra slipped up and mentioned that his department was exploring options for helping transport from one state to another any woman who wanted an abortion.

When Snow asked if it was “legal” for his department to do so, Becerra began laughing and playing a cat and mouse game, “joking” about how he couldn’t say much more because he was being filmed.

Watch:

HHS Sec. Becerra is asked if it's legal to assist in providing transportation for out-of-state abortions:

No doubt with the knowledge in mind that the Hyde Amendment prohibits federal funding for abortion-related services except in cases of rape, incest, or health of the mother, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) responded accordingly to Becerra’s remarks:

Under no circumstance https://t.co/UWZ9wDRxM7

— Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) June 27, 2022

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) also pointed out complete with receipts that Becerra’s abortion radicalism was the exact reason he and other Republicans opposed his nomination in the first place:

🚨Xavier Becerra is a radical pick to lead @HHSGov. He has no experience to fight COVID-19 and his support of Medicare-for-All & taxpayer funding for abortion leave him unfit to hold a position of public trust. 👇 my letter w/ @SenTomCotton to @POTUS asking he withdraw his nom.

The next move should be for Becerra to be hauled before a Senate committee to further expand on his comments, preferably as the cameras roll since he didn’t seem too keen on being filmed on the issue Saturday. After all, if a cabinet Secretary in Joe Biden’s administration is orchestrating a violation of federal law behind the scenes after he swore an oath to uphold the law, the American people deserve to know about it.

The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney came out today and stated that they will not enforce the law/ban. This is what is known as anarchy and obviously it is spreading throughout the country.

They suggested leasing Federal buildings to abortion providers.

OK, how about Post Offices. Get your “Forever” abortion here.

The letter carrier can even give you a ride in his truck if you are transportation challenged.

More seriously, this thinking violates the First Amendment’s “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,

This is establishing abortion as a religion, which we all know is how they view it anyway.

just more emotional outbursts by the children. They’ll kick and scream and cry for another week or so then it will be crying kicking and screaming about something else and around it goes, over and over and over again. Wash rinse and repeat.

A very unconstitutional gun bill was just signed, or about to be signed into law. Do you see the same behavior from the right?

Garland: “And we will not waver from this Department’s founding responsibility to protect the civil rights of all Americans.”... except those we want to kill.

Ask him how he’s planning to pay for it since it’s illegal to use federal funds.

RE: Ask him how he’s planning to pay for it since it’s illegal to use federal funds.

For one, California has a budget surplus of nearly $100 Billion.

J”ustice Department will use every tool at our disposal to protect reproductive freedom”

This is a tactic that needs to be used for actual constitutional purposes.

If they can send national guard to ensure girls aren’t segregated from school, based on a statute, they can certainly send them in to protect people’s gun rights, which is in the constitution.

They also could’ve been used to keep businesses open during covid, threatening to arrest any officer enforcing a shut down.

We’ll see how are ‘elected officials’ react to this. What they should do is come out with a statement stating that anyone who defies this will be prosecuted. Your state and mine both have strong AGs so we’ll see how this plays out.
