You are equating Trump's legitimate election and all the goodness it brought via fidelity to the Constitution and the Electoral College, with sustained raping of the Commerce Clause for political brownie points.

You're also equating passivity with morality. I don't need to open carry.

Understood. Happy 4th of July.

There is also a federalist argument for this law. States have much leeway under the Constitution to make standards for businesses, so long as those standards are applied equally....that is, Florida couldn’t say “Restaurants have to treat employees like this, but manufacturers don’t!”

Florida *is* treating all businesses equally in this case. There is no Constitutional issue. Under federalism as envisioned by the founders this is how things are supposed to work. Perhaps Georgia will create a competing vision of how businesses are allowed to operate.

Let’s see how business fares in each.

Florida faced the same thing with vaccines. Thank God Ron DeSantis worked with the legislature to protect INDIVIDUAL rights over the perceived rights of employers. Employers were not allowed to force individuals to get the jab.

Some may have been upset as the Florida law was telling private enterprise how to run their operation. Yet the founders would have no problem with this, imo.

In essential part, the official Florida House Bill Analysis of the final version of House Bill 7 is as follows:

The bill provides that it is discrimination based on race, color, sex, or national origin under the Florida Civil Rights Act to subject a person, as a condition of employment, membership, certification, licensing, credentialing, or passing an examination, to training, instruction, or any other required activity that espouses, promotes, advances, inculcates, or compels such individual to believe certain specified concepts, including that:

-- An individual, by virtue of his or her race, color, sex, or national origin, bears personal responsibility for and must feel guilt, anguish, or other forms of psychological distress because of actions, in which the individual played no part, committed in the past by other members of the same race, color, sex, or national origin.

-- An individual’s moral character or status as either privileged or oppressed is necessarily determined by his or her race, color, sex, or national origin.

Similarly, the bill provides that it is discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, or sex under the Florida Education Code to subject a student or employee to training or instruction that espouses, promotes, advances, inculcates, or compels such student or employee to believe the specified concepts.

The bill also:

-- Requires that instruction on required topics in grades K-12 and all supporting materials be consistent with specified principles of individual freedom.

-- Prohibits state instructional materials reviewers from recommending materials that contradict the principles of individual freedom.

-- Requires the Florida Department of Education to develop standards and curriculum relating to the history and contributions of Americans of the African diaspora.

-- Requires the State Board of Education to develop or adopt a “Stories of Inspiration” curriculum.

-- Specifies required topics for instruction in health education, life skills, and civic and character education.

Yes, as you might suspect, the Democrats in the Florida Legislature almost entirely voted against the bill.

You seem to be what Rush used to call someone who likes to “lose with honor”, like so many of our useless and gutless representatives in DC.

If I understand you right, if you were coaching a football team in a game and the other side was breaking the rules left and right with impunity and beating the crap out of your team, you would just continue playing by the official rules, because, well, you’re an honorable guy.

Am I close?

Happy 4th to yu too.

I'd call my players off the field, have them re-assemble and walk across the field in a line, to face the opposing team's sideline.

I'd announce: "clearly, you don't honor the rules. I will give your coach three chances to forfeit the game."

They'll laugh. I respond "If he doesn't, I will personally see to it that he never coaches again, I will sue him in civil court, and relentlessly ensure he is know as a cheat for the remaining days of his life."

Now I've got their attention. "I will also monitor each of you/the players' career, and ensure that every town where you work, you will be hated. I will also track you down on LinkedIn and every other social media site you frequent, and reply to every post of yours 'you cheat to win' and link to clips of this game. If I have any free time, I'll selectively pursue you in civil court as well."

And finally I'll announce "and since I'm now livestreaming this announcement, when I give the word each of your names and addresses will be posted online, unless you forfeit."

Limbaugh came up with that football analogy, suggesting that you must fight immorality with immorality? I'd expect no less from a talk show host who had a massive audience, $700MM+ estate, three failed marriages, and a detox stint. What a paragon of virtue.

I 100% agree about laws like this targeting local governments, publicly funded schools & universities and the such.

But (as you get) targeting private companies is altogether different. The free market should be the regulation of private business.
