“Imagine if she had a bomb and took out a bunch of elected officials. What would FReepers say about Byrd letting her through?”

We would have said nothing about Byrd.

Byrd would’ve been one of the casualties.

He’s on!y known now, because he murdered a woman that was taunting “his government people.”

Byrd is a low life.

Wasn’t this murderer already exonerated? He was even interviewed as a hero?

Don’t you think if he would fired a warning shot, she would have backed out of the window right quick?

But seriously, you’re hypothesizing that a patriot would do what an Antifa member would do. I find that comment offensive. You don’t understand conservatives at all.

And how was Byrd to know she was conservative?

I bet there are still some here who think most of those rioters were Antifa.

He could of moved to be right in her line of sight, yelled “Freeze” and pointed the gun at her!

I don’t think she would have kept going. Former military and could have quickly evaluated the situation.

The guilty party here is whoever led her into the Capitol in the first place.

Ray, baby, you there?

I suppose. But he decided to murder her instead, and that made her fall out of the window as well.

But he didn't need to shoot a warning shot to get her out of the window. He could have just shoved her out of the window. He could have stepped into her field of vision instead of sneaking up on her from the side. He could have yelled, like he lied about doing.

Imagine if she had a bomb and took out a bunch of elected officials. What would FReepers say about Byrd letting her through?

The two officers right behind her in tactical gear with M-4s saw no reason to worry but the Affirmative Discrimination hire murdered her.

Those two officers are lucky they didn't get hit by the round passing through Ashli.

This fool didn't even allow for that possibility.

That possibility is not relevant. Plenty of people convicted or murder or assault thought they were doing their job. Ask Derek Chauvin about that.

Someone tasked with protecting an official looks at potential harm to the person he's protecting, not himself.

I’ll have to agree with FreeReign, there was no one there to protect.

Byrd executed Babbit.

He articulated no warning, he made no attempt to arrest, she had no weapon, she posed no threat.

Consider John Hinkley Jr’s attempt to assonate Ronald Reagan.

The Secret Service did not shoot him even though Hinkley had already fired multiple shots. They shielded Reagan with their bodies and tackled Hinkley to the ground.

Being a Capitol Hill cop does not give him the power to take a woman’s life without just cause. He has to obey the same laws as anyone else.

This case is a gross miscarriage of justice

Your Hinkley analogy would work better if Babbitt was a lone actor like Hinkley.

Byrd had just seen the mob overwhelm all of his compatriots and breach every obstacle meant to stop them.

It would make sense for him to try to subdue her if she was the only threat, but I suspect he felt he was the last line of defense and desperate measures were called for.

We obviously don’t know what he was thinking for sure but I seriously doubt his main concern was protecting himself from Ashli.

Just how did Byrd see anyone overrun? He was hiding in a room off the hallway and only emerged very briefly to pull the trigger on Ashli. She was the only one that came through the window and was unarmed and no obvious threat. There was Zero justification for the use of deadly force This dude has to go down. Same as any other murderer.

“In a 2021 interview with Lester Holt on NBC, Byrd said he could not see into the Speaker’s Lobby hallway through the glass, did not know if the person climbing into the window was male or female, and could not tell if the person had anything in their hands.”

“My conclusion … based on what I saw and observed in the video clips is that Ashli Babbitt was murdered,” Kephart said. “She was shot and killed under color of authority by an officer who violated not only the law but his oath and committed an arrestable offense,” Kephart said.

Sorry, but our corrupt 'justice' system noticed Ashli has an 'R' by her name so she was fair game for anyone who wanted to shoot an unarmed women in the face and murder her. The little shits would do the same to any of us if given the chance.

No it would make sense to subdue her. Subduing the first through the window would perhaps dissuade the rest from going through the window.

Regardless of anyone else assaulting that window/door she was unarmed and did not constitute a threat to his or anyone else’s life.

And by your reasoning it only made sense to shoot her if he was there after going to stand quads over that dood/window to preclude others from climbing through that window.

Byrd gave no warning, Byrd stepped forward, shot Babbit and retreated and was not seen again.

If Byrd was defending that hall way his actions only make sense if he continued to defend the hallway after shooting Babbit.

In that case the logical thing to do is take the time for matters to make themselves clear.

With no immediate threat evident he had no justifiable cause to fire on the person crawling through the window.

Just how did Byrd see anyone overrun?

I used ‘see’ in the sense that he was aware of what was happening. I’m sure the Capitol Police have radios and he could certainly see when the mob forced their way into the area outside the doors he was protecting.

The DC capitol cop was black - Ashli was a white woman.

He didn't shoot the first people coming through to stop the crowd - he picked a conservative white woman on purpose. Then shot her in the face.
If there had been an Asian women among the protesters Ashli would still be alive.
