If there is a cop behind me, I pull into a parking lot or side road at my first opportunity. It forces their hand. Usually they’ve not gotten to a point where they’ve decided they are going to pull me over for a non-infraction.

This was a local event versus a highway event. My guess is cop decided to blast me with a license plate reader and had to wait for the results. Pulling off the roadway wasn't going to change the outcome..

I don’t know what you mean by “this”. There is nothing in your post that suggests you were pulled over.

But yeah, it’s not a guarantee. It just reduces the chance of an “excuse” type of stop. That is, dim license plate light, etc.
