More Stimulus Checks? We Asked a Former IMF Offical If This Was a Good Idea or Not: This week, Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf and state legislators from his party reaffirmed their commitment to providing direct stimulus payments to residents across the state to cope with the rising cost of gas, food, and consumer products.
In February, Governor Wolf announced the PA Opportunity Program, a scheme worth $500 million that would send $2,000 checks to all residents who earn less than $80,000. The scheme hasn’t won support from Republicans, but Wolf and his Democratic colleagues refuse to back down.

It’s essentially vote buying.
I don’t mind that so much it just screws up that state. But when we have the federal stimulus that screws up everybody.
I received a letter from the Pa Dept of Revenue Monday saying I would receive an additional “tax rebate”, and it would arrive sometime in the fall and the next day $350 hit my direct deposit.
For what?
A massive bribe right before an election is usually good for at least 5 points.
So Mitch prevented it in the GA runoff 2 years ago. Prevented Rs from using it, that is.

I’m from Ky originally. And I agree, he has oversaw the loss of all three branches of elected power.
What has he done for us lately?

I can point to thousands in PA that earn under $80,000.
And, yes, they will vote Dem in November.

When we realize that we can make a good living doing each others laundry, then our income (or lack thereof) problems will be solved. Why do I have to do all of the heavy thinking?

My take is the feds are pumping lots of money into blue/purple states. How can a state offer $2K rebates to a vast majority of residents and remain solvent? I admit to being a retired Illinois employee. The state has been broke for so long that it was taking well over a year to pay its bills with huge interest payments. I had a dental appointment a few weeks ago and received my portion of the dental payment back in record time. This has never happened in 35 years.
Yep, dirty politics.
You can’t buy votes for $2 each but giving $2,000 is fine.
