Putin prevented the Turkey-Qatar pipeline (via his puppet Assad) and will likely block other pipelines through Syria, unless they carry Iranian gas exclusively. The question is, will Assad continue to obey Putin, or take the much needed money? The west has been trying to flip Assad for decades.
