EU NG storage was never built to hold the continent over for a winter, absent outside gas flows.

It was built (by Russian Gazprom) to even out the flows through the pipelines, like a buffer in an air compression or water pumping system.

It’s not like the American SPR, which was meant (Before Biden sold it off) to last the USA for many months during a total cutoff of foreign petroleum imports.

Instead, it’s just a buffer system, because obviously (to those with 3 digit IQs) Russian NG pipelines cannot just be manifolded directly from Russia to European homes and factories.

Insert big “DUH!” here.

(But I’m not surprised this comes as a surprise to you.)

EU won’t rely on just nat gas from storage.

EU will continue to get nat gas piped in from several countries plus LNG.

But the negativity from multiple European leaders, that the little people are going to take a hit, shows they know preparation won’t create emough gas for all out of thin air.

The super-state, libertine EU needs to fold.

Good points.

It’s hard to create a product out of thin air when enough for allcan’t be supplied in time.

"emough gas for all out of thin air."

It doesn't come out of thin air. Nat gas will come from pipeline, LNG and storage plus conservation.

Plus I think people over emphasize nat gas. Nat Gas only makes up 14.6% of Germany's electricity production.

Heating is where Germany needs to conserve. Their plan is clear, reduce nat gas usage towards electricity generation to save the nat gas for heating. They are doing this by burning coal and oil for electricty.

“70,000 Czechs take to the streets against government,”

A protest lead by the Czech communist party? I guess there are still some folk bitter about the fall of the Iron Curtain and hoping Putin will put them back under Russian control.

Alex Christoforou explained it a while ago as this:

The storage is about 20 percent of the total gas needed for the winter.

So, if it's 75% filled, you have 75% of the 20% needed - or 15% of the total needed for the winter [with no outside inputs].

At 100% full, you only have 20% of the gas you'll need to get through a typical winter.

Math is hard. When you're a Zeeper, it's harder. So let's not burst the Speedster's bubble with Da Facts.

And how do they expect to control exactly how much each person uses so that demand will never catch up to and outstrip storage?

The calculations do not account for piped nat gas and LNG.

We hear about NG storage, but nothing is said about where and how it is stored. It is stored in gaseous state so there must be leakage somewhere.

How is the stored gas allocated? How much for electricity generation? How much for home heating? How much for industrial usage?
