Is Report of U.S. Military Weaknesses Silly and Dangerous or Spot-On and Alarming?: According to Politico, an anonymous defense official claims Pentagon leaders are “none too pleased” that The Heritage Foundation’s latest Index of U.S. Military Strength has characterized American hard power as “weak.” The unnamed source also said that Heritage’s scoring is “silly and dangerous,” in part because it is “based on the outdated requirement that the military be able to fight two wars simultaneously,” a metric changed by the Obama administration and maintained by both the Trump and Biden teams.

When you dont meet the standard, just lower the standard.
Politically — and generals are pure politics — we are afraid to lose people. You cannot win if you are afraid to lose soldiers. We might do OK as long as it’s a video game. And plenty of our soldiers could dominate on the ground. But as far as leadership goes, we are lions led by sheep. Alexander of Macedon had something to say about that.
But we have proper pronouns!
700+ billion a year and we may not be able to fight one war, much less two. Ships running into each other, planes falling out of the sky. Can’t recruit enough troops to maintain a full scale Army. And now bare bottom supplies of oil to make everything run.
Woke = Weak
Compared to Russia? We could use National Guard equipment.
China would be all air and Navy. I think our quality and maintenance is better.
Let's say we get committed to Taiwan fighting China. It is a golden opportunity for Lil' Kim to attempt a reuniting of Korea.
But to be fair the Russian military sucks. China is the only real threat and we need to measure against them going forward.
And that is why the Princesses of the Pentagon are fighting yesterday's war against Russia instead of building up to contain China. We are ruled by malicious idiots wasting $ billions to protect Biden's little crooked income source.
I know no one wants to hear it, but the use of drones and the ground engagement tactics in Ukraine show that our operational doctrine and the systems we use needs to change radically. IIRC General Van Ripper (USMC ret) in a war game some years ago demonstrated that Iran using drones and small boats with cruise missiles could wreak havoc on the US Navy.
And that’s what’s important to today’s snowflakes

Our carriers will be vulnerable in the Gulf.
See how easy that was?
“Our carriers will be vulnerable in the Gulf.”
Our carriers will be vulnerable anywhere in the world.
They are great for defense contractors but highly vulnerable to a wide range of modern weaponry.
The military planners are “fighting the last war”.
Not everyone is able to get drones and missiles. So our carriers are still pretty useful.
I am not 100% sure, but I think the plan is NOT to put carriers in the Gulf, but keep them outside.
It’s not weak. But if you say so, let’s build it up! More funding! ;D
