New York Times Promotes Claims that “Random Gun Violence” is Up

On October 26, 2022, the New York Times published an article focusing on allegations of increased violence after the state of Texas moved to Constitutional Carry in September of 2021.

The author, David Goodman, is fairly careful in his allegations, which consist of one incident where an innocent 9-year-old was killed during a defensive shooting and anecdotes from city sheriffs, police leaders, and district attorneys.

However, many read only the headline and a few lines after that. The headline implies large problems with permitless (Constitutional) carry. The first incident is an extremely rare occurrence: the death of an innocent during a justified shooting.

Consider the headline and sub-headline from the article. From nytimes.com:

The headline: Texas Goes Permitless on Guns, and Police Face an Armed Public

Most Second Amendment supporters and, indeed, most police believe this is a good and proper thing. Why, in the United States, would police believe they would face an unarmed public?

The sub-headline: A new law allowing people to carry handguns without a license has led to more spontaneous shootings, many in law enforcement say.

There is no data to support this, only anecdotes by authority figures in places that are traditionally anti-Second Amendment. In the body of the article, after the emotional mention of the shooting of the 9-year-old girl in Houston, is this explanation of anecdotes apparently collected by the reporter.

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: banglist; constitutionalcarry; nyts; propaganda
The article makes is sound as if a connection between Constitutional Carry and more violence has been discovered.

But only anecdotal evidence is given, and it is contradictory.

Random? No, it’s intentional.

Ah, yes, more propaganda from the Leftists at the New York Times.

There is no such thing as "gun violence". It's criminal violence.

There's nothing random about it; it's very intentional both in Democrat's insidious support of it and in those who are targeted by such criminals.

In Texas, it isn’t an “armed public” that the police are “facing”, it’s a reduction in the number of criminals walking the streets.

Under a Democrat president, with Democrats controlling the House and the Senate? In cities all under Democrat control? Gun violence is up? Hmp. Well. That’s certainly odd.

So a criminal shooting an innocent is now attributed to Constitutional Carry, even though he would have done it anyway.
It's like attributing drunk driving to cars, not the drunks.
But hey, the Left does this all the time.

Wait until the diesel runs out and the grocery store shelves mysteriously go empty.

There’s nothing “random” about cashless bail, defund the police, “sanctuary” for criminal aliens, or Soros prosecutors. Anyone with an atom of common sense knows exactly what’s the inevitable upshot.

If guns are out, just randomly, violently attacking people, we need to get that under control!

Otherwise, SHUT THE H@LL UP New York Slimes!!
