Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
ORYX ^ | Since February 24, 2022 and daily | ORYX

Posted on 11/19/2022 7:21:58 AM PST by SpeedyInTexas

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“As I suspected, Russian authorities confirm that the gas grid got attacked in St. Petersburg. It must have happened in the forests East of Murino. Russia has there high pressure gas pipelines which also feed the gas power station near Lavriki.”

“With the train video (Yellow line) it is likely that the explosion happened somewhere in this forest (green circle). It is few kilometers South from my initial estimation. It is still the same pipeline, though.”

RuZZia has probably used up their inventory of cruise missiles and has to rely on new production.

“On November 15, Ukrainian AD shot down two Russian cruise missiles near Kiev (https://defence-ua.com/weapon_and_tech/rosija_zapuskaje_po_ukrajini_krilati_raketi_z_imitatorom_jadernoji_bojegolovki-9677.html… ). All in all, a pretty routine event. This time, however, it turned out to be more interesting than usual.”

“The first missile is the Kh-55 in practice version, without the warhead (which is usually nuclear in the Kh-55). It was most likely used as a decoy, drawing Ukrainian AD away from combat missiles, thus increasing their chances to reach the target.”

“The second missile shot down over Kiev on November 15 is a Kh-101. Anyone who can read the serial number of the Kh-101 missile (everyone can, right?) can see that it is brand new – the missile was manufactured this summer.”

“European refiners now seem to have more crude oil than they need—with the early panic about Russia’s dwindling oil exports—and the world’s subsequent oil shortage—proving to be overblown.

Crude oil traders have pointed to Europe’s ability to source crude oil from Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States as the main cause for European refiners breathing a sigh of relief. Asia, too, has scooped up less crude oil than analysts were predicting, thanks to China’s neverending battle to obtain the elusive zero-covid goal.

Europe’s imports of Latin American crude have averaged 313,000 bpd so far this year, up from 132,000 Refinitiv Eikon data shows. In July, the average was well above that, at 600,000 bpd. From the United States, Europe has taken 1.1 million bpd on average this year, compared with just 800,000 bpd last year. Europe’s Iraqi oil imports are 20% higher from July-November compared to the same period last year.

The supply overages are weighing on prices. Brent prices have slumped nearly $9 per barrel since this time last week. One European crude oil trader told Reuters that European refiners “seem to have overbought in November and December, probably because of fears around Urals.” In addition to these fears causing panic purchases, weeks-long strikes at French refineries and a rash of refinery maintenance also curbed the call for crude oil in Europe as runs slowed.

Traders and refiners increased their purchases over this summer, anticipating shortages stemming from Europe’s ban on imports of Russian crude oil. That ban is set to go into effect on December 5. Until then, Europe will likely have no issues with obtaining enough crude oil. Post-December 5, however, could be a different story.”

The US money for arms was never sent to Ukraine. To my understanding it was held by a New York bank which was supposed to buy US arms for Ukraine. The bank illegally diverted the funds to FTX (and where else?) to then to the Democrats and apparently the RINOs too.

Ukraine never actually controlled this money.

It would have a dummy warhead to keep weight & balance within limits.

I am surprised the Russians wouldn't modify the training missile to install some HE.

Depending on the target, a cruise missile without a warhead could still do a lot of damage.

The real cause is stupidity. The weapons loaders probably did not realize that the missile was a training missile.

Video shows what is said to be a Ukrainian ‘kamikaze’ drone boat attacking a port inside Russian territory.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-possible-drone-boat-attack-on-russian-port

Excerpts:
Unconfirmed footage of what is claimed to be a Ukrainian ‘kamikaze’ drone attack on Sheskharis Harbor in Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk has been published online by Russian media outlets.

The video appears to be from a closed-circuit television camera system that is trained on the harbor over a road. Cars can be seen driving across the frame before an explosion occurs pierside on the far side of the harbor.

It is impossible to see what sort of craft was used in the attack. A second clip - which comes after the first in the video embedded below - shows another angle of the blast.

It is not clear what the drone boat, if that was what was depicted in the video, struck if anything. With a maximum speed of up to 50 miles per hour – very fast for a surface vessel – and a combat payload of 400 pounds, the boats are lethal adversaries for Russian surface ships and port infrastructure.

-—> Is Russia Now Firing Denuclearized Cruise Missiles At Ukraine? <——
Repurposing old nuclear cruise missiles as decoys to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses could make sense.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/is-russia-now-firing-denuclearized-cruise-missiles-at-ukraine

Excerpts:
Russia has launched a Kh-55 (AS-15 Kent) cruise missile against Ukraine with its normal nuclear warhead removed, according to a report from a Ukrainian news outlet. The claim, which is yet to be independently verified, is nonetheless plausible and, although the evidence available is so far inconclusive, it would be in keeping with Russia employing older cruise missiles as its stocks of more modern weapons continue to be depleted ... The missile reportedly had “no warhead at all,” according to unnamed sources.

... it may well be the case that Russia has decided it makes sense to lose older Kh-55s from its inventory and instead use them (sans warhead) as a means to disrupt Ukrainian air defenses. That would make particular sense if those same Kh-55s were reaching the end of their shelf lives. Better to use them unarmed to spoof hostile air defense systems or attempt to hit a target, albeit with limited damage, than simply scrap them.

It’s also possible that Kh-55s could be used in the same role with no modification at all. This would involve taking inert rounds, designed for training bomber crews, and launching them toward targets in Ukraine. The effect of decoying the air defenses would be the same, but it would likely be even easier to achieve, with no substantial modifications required.

Interestingly, the Defense Express account claims it’s impossible to fit a conventional charge in a Kh-55, which would be another potential option for putting these weapons to use in Ukraine. That’s clearly not the case, as the Kh-555 has demonstrated, although it may well be that the complexity of that modification is not worth the effort, compared to building new Kh-101s.

WiU took today off - apparently. End report for 11/19/2022

See link from War Zone about the KH-55 missiles - the article states that it is impossible to insert conventional explosive in the warhead.

Use is deliberate, not a screw up.

Update on Russian military operations in and around Ukraine for November 16, 2022

- Russia continues its campaign targeting Ukrainian infrastructure with missiles and drones;
- A recent barrage consisted of over 90 missiles, significantly degrading Ukraine's power grid;
- The West has said since April Russia was running out of missiles, yet large-scale use of missiles continues;
- Russia is also now using long-range precision kamikaze drones meaning Russia appears to have a growing number of long-range precision weapons;
- During the recent barrage it appears at least 2 Ukrainian air defense missiles missed their targets and struck civilians in Poland;
- After claiming Russia is a threat to Europe, it is a terrible irony that Ukraine is responsible for the first strike on NATO territory since Russian operations began in late February;
