‘Nazi’-inspired US prison guards, American ‘revolution’ and Ukraine conflict: Highlights from Viktor Bout’s RT interview

In his first major interview since his release, Viktor Bout, whom the US has labelled as an arms dealer, spoke to RT on Saturday. Bout was returned to Russia in a high-profile prisoner swap for basketball player Brittney Griner on Thursday.

During the conversation, the businessman revealed the techniques he used to stay sane while behind bars, spoke about the conflict in Ukraine and on whether he believed the US might be on the verge of an uprising.

Arming the Taliban

Bout served 12 years in American prisons on arms-trafficking charges that he denies. Despite evading Taliban captivity in the mid-1990s, several American media outlets reported this week that he supplied up to 200 Soviet T-90 tanks to the Afghan Islamists. This claim apparently originated in an anonymously-sourced report by Germany’s Der Spiegel in 2002.

“No, I did not have any relations with the Taliban,” he told RT. “The Taliban put a bounty on my head. How can anyone say I worked with the Taliban?”

Who delivered more weapons to the Taliban, Victor Bout or Joe Biden?

I doubt if he could sell 200 Soviet tanks without Russian approval.

BTW didn’t we supply the Taliban with arms during the late 70’s?

No, of course not. He's a Russian government agent/representative, operating according to Russian government strategic and diplomatic interests.

But then again, what are the suits and MBAs at Lockheed Martin or Raytheon? They sell arms overseas, operating according to US government strategic and diplomatic interests.

First thing I thought of. When it comes to arming the Taliban, Biden takes the prize hands down.

Apples to oranges.

Bout sold them weapons for money. (For profit)

Biden donated them. (Non-Profit)

That was the Mujahadeen when Afghanistan was fighting the Russian invasion. The Taliban started in Pakistan, and moved into Afghanistan and took over when the Russians left. The Taliban has ties to Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence Agency and more extreme religious groups. The US was hoping that Afghanistan would take care of itself. No US administration ever expected or has ever handled how Pakistan plays all sides for years.

John Bolton’s reaction to him being released makes me think that Bout knows where bodies are buried.
