One of the technology partners of the WEF is the blockchain development firm, Consensys. Their Infura platform provides the infrastructure for the Ethereum digital currency.
Ethereum recently forked off from its original Bitcoin decentralized roots and adopted the centrally controlled Power of Stake (POS) validation protocol. This changed the blockchain from a democracy of equals to an oligarchy of the wealthiest server providers.
The WEF envisions a digital currency pegged to some global currency like the euro that can replace the dollar as a reserve currency for international commerce. The WEF central committee would determine the peg ratio to manipulate the purchasing power of their Ethereum based currency giving them greater power than the US Federal Reserve.
