I remember being on a golf course talking politics and a friend “jokingly” called me a “breeder.” I have four kids; he’s chosen to forgo parenthood altogether.
After a moment of stunned silence, I realized two things: one, that there are plenty of folks who think that having children is evil, and two, that this person was not in fact my friend.
He’s not alone in his thinking though: a survey by Veolia, an environmental utility firm, reveals that a quarter of respondents described “not being at peace” due to global warming and said they were “giving up long-term projects such as having children.” The poll should be taken with a grain of salt, however, as the Paris-based company posts other polls on their Twitter feed that all seem to arrive at similar conclusions: that a majority of inhabitants of the earth spend their waking hours freaking out over the future of the planet.
Efforts must be collective in order to achieve #EcologicalTransformation.👫 For most of the world's inhabitants, the 3 main actors of ecological transformation are citizens, #governments and local authorities. 🌎

Still, their findings cannot be totally discounted; there are in fact hordes of individuals who do obsess over climate change and claim that almost every weather event is yet another sign of our imminent doom. DailyMail reports:
A quarter of Americans are delaying long-term plans like starting a family, fearing that climate change will drive ever more weather calamities, a survey reveals.
Research by Veolia, an environmental utility firm, shows a growing number of people are alarmed by global warming — four fifths call it a “real” phenomenon and nearly two thirds put the blame on mankind. [Emphasis mine.]
It comes as storms and floods have claimed at least 17 lives in California in recent days…
It wasn’t that long ago that most societies considered it a duty for young people to bear children. Even not-a-biologist Ketanji Brown Jackson can probably tell you that a species that doesn’t reproduce will go extinct. Unfortunately for the United States, birth rates are in a long-term nosedive, as Pew Research reports:
The Biden Administration seemingly has an answer: just let in millions of illegal immigrants to prop up our population numbers. Twitter CEO Elon Musk, however, does not agree that the low birth rate is a good thing; he actually argues that it’s a threat:
I think a lot of people think that there’s too many people on the planet, but I think there’s in fact too few. And that possibly the single greatest risk to human civilation is the rapidly dimishing birth rate.

@elonmusk discusses the declining birth rate and its potential consequences. This is an important conversation that we need to have. #birthrate #population #ElonMusk pic.twitter.com/3Ua65vJ2QT

I know some couples who chose not to have children and are happy with their decision. I know others who as they get older regret staying childless, and find their lives lacking a certain meaning. For me, parenting is the most challenging—but also by far the most rewarding—adventure in life, and it’s just plain sad that so many people are so caught up in climate change mania that they would opt to forgo one of the species’ most basic functions: reproducing.
It would indeed be a sorrowful world with no children.

i wish these evil earth worshippers would just die off. Good that they are not reproducing. But why do they have to make our lives miserable in the meantime?
Concern over climate change is a handy justification for not taking on the expense of parenthood, and maximizing self-indulgence, wrapping it in virtuous fig leaves. I don’t think for a minute these hedonistic generations would be having children regardless. If the climate issue wasn’t there it would be something else.
Its like a bizarre Jim Jones-style cult has taken over our government and society.
“Be fruitful and multiply” - Genesis 1:28
Anything else is from the evil one.
Good the fruitcakes need to just die off. Like the shaking quakers.
Or they are fags.
Or something else from parents. Since government closed mental institutions, many of these lunatics bred with other lunatics and really screwed their kids up. Many of those same kids know they can't allow the chain to continue to the next generation.
More and more men have taken the red pill and realize the only way to win is to not play the game.
Men have woken up to the reality that they have a target on their back and the government, which has intruded as an unwelcome third party into every marriage, will actively encourage women to break a marriage apart to force the man to pay more money to the woman, and the government.
I’m not seeing too much of a downside here. The dumbest and most gullible are voluntarily removing their genes from the pool.
Less idiots in the following generations who have the opportunity to learn from this stupidity.
“Good that they are not reproducing.”
They still reproduce, just by infecting other peoples’ children with their weirdo mindset. Probably the best thing the right can do long term to kill leftism is to pull our kids out of the public schools and raise money to endow some more right leaning universities.
You ain’t seen nothin yet.
Infertility and miscarriages are increasing dramatically too.
I guess we shouldn’t have listened to ‘health experts’ who are actually New World Order Eugenicists and allowed them to force us into taking their poisons.
The problem is that it is not just the “dumbest and most gullible”. My brother and his wife had 5 kids... none of them are planning on having children. My sister and her husband had two children... neither of them are planning on having children. My wife and I had three children... we already have 7 grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way. Our kids do not appear to be any smarter than the offspring of my siblings. Their minds were just not as easily poisoned by propaganda because my wife and I taught them to be skeptical.
Unfortunately, everyday we have plenty of evidence that people are easily influenced by nonsense even those who post here on Free Republic. Look at the people who still worship Fauci and company right here.
in a way, this is good news as it means the idiots that believe i n the lie of ‘man-caused climate change’ will be slowly declining in numbers as they keep from having more kids ot pass along their asinine fears to- Eventually that group of people will become extinct
Don't be quick to judge them for not having kids. The consistency points to the issue not being them but their parents. Many people are painfully aware of how much their parents screwed them up.
It's akin to how families covered up alcoholism. It took a long time for that stigma to be broken. We're going through something even larger now, where families have covered up all kinds of detrimental illnesses. The kids know there's something wrong, others deny it, but the kids refuse to ignore it and pass along problems to their children, by not having them.
We're living in an age where children are taught their problems aren't problems but are normal.
"There's something wrong with me."
"No there isn't. Everything's on a spectrum. You're fine." (In other words, shut up and don't bother me).
Generally, threats to human populations result in increased births. But not for this last wimpified generation, evidently...
Good. Insane people shouldn’t have kids.
Oh, they may say it is because of climate change, but 25% have ulterior motives, mostly having to do with comfort or relationship issues.
Their kids were all spoiled out of their minds. And it is like that for many these days. It is not that they are genetically defective or have any real problems. In previous generations people were taught that it was the normal progression to get married and have kids. Not these days.
Idiocracy wasn’t meant to be a documentary.
