Trump gave an interview on Thursday to Hugh Hewitt, who repeatedly asked him to spill on what disparaging nicknames he plans to use against those who compete with him in the 2024 Republican primary. When Hewitt floated Glenn Youngkin (R) as a possible bid, Trump referred to the Virginia Governor as a “disappointment,” complaining that he didn’t get enough gratitude from Youngkin or his team even though “I did a lot for him. And he got elected because of me, just like Ron DeSantis. Even more so.”
DeSantis is often considered Trump’s biggest potential primary threat, and the former president has been opening fire on the governor ever since the midterm elections. Trump often claims DeSantis would’ve never won his governors race without his endorsement, so as soon as Trump brought up DeSantis’ name, the floodgates opened for a full-scale attack.
“He had nothing! He was dead, he was leaving the race, he came over and he begged me, begged me, for an endorsement. He was getting ready to drop out,” Trump said. He then shared how DeSantis supposedly grovelled for his help in beating Adam Putnam in Florida’s Republican primary
"There were tears coming down from his eyes. He said ‘if you endorse me, I’ll win,’ said Trump. “So I end up doing it, and he wins. They say it was like a bomb went off. Just a bomb totally went off. From the moment I endorsed him, he went from losing by numbers that were not catchable to winning easily.”
This went on with Trump saying “everything collapsed” for Putnam from the moment he endorse DeSantis, and that “I got him past the crackhead [Andrew Gillam], who was the hottest person in the Democratic Party at the time.”

President Trump knows who butters the bread of his opponents. President Trump relies on small donors like me. DeSantis goes to the big money donors. Because President Trump has declared already, he’s subject to Federal Election Commission rules. His opponents can raise whatever they want in large amounts until they officially jump in.
Trump knows he has no path to 270. He’s just playing games...
Often you can say plenty by not saying anything at all.
DeSantis is not running and I won’t participate in attacking him. I would like to have him as my governor, instead of the democrat Hell we’ve been through in PA. Our governor put thousands of Covid patients in nursing homes, and thousands died.
***What state do you live in, and WHO’s YOUR GOVERNOR?
What nut would stand for hours in the cold waiting for the perpetually late Trump to finally show up for a rally? And have to listen to the Abdul story repeated for the hundredth time? And the same old same old bragging, personal insults, and name-calling. It’s really getting old.
The only thing new will be personal attacks on DeSantis if he runs. DeSanctimonious. Jeesh, how long did it take him to come up with that one? How juvenile, just like his other insults. Aren’t voters getting a little tired of this? I certainly am and I voted for Trump twice. Not again.
Trump is bragging that he can end the Ukraine war in 24 hours. Here’s how he’ll do it. He’ll send Putin a picture of Putin’s house and threaten to obliterate it with a nuke. That’s how Trump said he got Abdul to leave the U.S. alone in Afghanistan. I don’t think Putin will buy it.
Trump saved him
Putnam had statewide recognition because he was agriculture commissioner. I wouldn’t say he was unpopular, just no one to get too excited about. The polls flipped in one month, shortly after their debate. I’m sure the Trump endorsement helped to put DeSantis into the limelight, but he seemed to do better in the debates as well. The polls showing Putnam in the lead also indicated that there were a lot of “undecided” voters. One of the polls I saw was only 500 likely voters.
Donald J Trump should grow up. We gave him a grace period since he was new to politics. Time’s up. Act like you’ve been there, DT!
Trump...shut up about other Republicans when you have ample targets in the Democrat party.
Narcissistic Personality disorder:
Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can:
Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
Take advantage of others to get what they want.
Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.
At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can:
Become impatient or angry when they don’t receive special recognition or treatment.
Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted.
React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior.
Trump needs to leave DeSantis alone and focus on the issues.
DeSantis needs to ignore Trump and focus on the issues.
This isn’t The Real Housewives of the 2024 Presidential Primaries.
This is real life and many important things are at stake that supersede petty insults.
I agree with you on wanting DeSantis to be my governor. I had Cuomo and now have Hochul. If I didn't have my livelihood here I would on my way to FLA.
Add reflexive toxic gaslighting to that list.
Plenty?
Trump is currently the GOP front-runner, party leader, and former president yet as far as I can tell, two months into his campaign, he's received less than a dozen formal endorsements from elected GOP officials.
I can only find one governor on the list, SC's Governor Henry McMaster.
Why can't DeSantis endorse him? Trump should have well over a hundred formal endorsements by now.
I don't know what that tells you but it tells me that a whole lot of elected officials, many of whom Trump himself endorsed, are waiting for someone else to step up to the plate.
Me too.
He is attacking the most viable contender.
What a lie. Trump is crazy. And we have heard this before.......how everybody needs him and begged him for his endorsement.
I’m beginning to hate the guy.
Booyah and Amen. And narcissists are real jerks too.
