On Monday, during a press conference in Panama City Beach, Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis responded to the claims.

“So I’ve seen rumors swirl, I’ve not seen any facts yet, and so I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do know this, the Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he like, other Soros-funded prosecutors, weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” said DeSantis.

So if Trump were down there at Mar-a-Lago, would DeSantis deny extradition?

“And so, you’re talking about this situation, and look, I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair, I can’t speak to that, but what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor, who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about pornstar hush money payments. You know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office, and I think that that’s fundamentally wrong,” said DeSantis.

Probably not... even when you point out that DeSantis made an example of a Soros-style prosecutor in his state by firing him.

Re: Denying extradition.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1987 that Governors have no power to deny or delay extradition.

Most of these recent threads on this topic are saying that the US Constitution sets out extradition between states and the individual Governors are not empowered to allow or stop it. That is so a crun of the mill everyday criminal cannot flee across state lines and be safe from extradition back to another state.

Now you Trumpers are moving the goalposts. Yesterday it was "DESANTIS HASN'T SPOKEN OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE!"

Now that Desantis has spoken out about this issue, your position has changed to "DESANTIS WON'T STOP EXTRADITION!"

Absolute lunatics, the lot of you.

After a quick poll, review of the fire he is under for his desilence, and a strategy session with Rove and Ryan, Desantis makes a statement...

I just asked the question... and the answer I’m getting is “he doesn’t have the power to do so.”

He can’t. If the state of NY issues a warrant of arrest and begins extradition proceedings, DeSantis is legally powerless to block extradition. If Trump fights extradition then the law allows for the Governor to review the request, but he cannot block it.

He can’t. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that governors have no power to ignore extradition requests and the federal courts can compel them to comply with extradition if they fail to do what the Constitution demands.

Why don’t people know this stuff? It’s not like it’s a hidden secret.

Puerto Rico v. Branstad, 483 U.S. 219 (1987).

His reply is excellent. Focus on the real issue here—the pro-crime Soros-funded prosecutors who are abusing their offices to promote a left-wing political agenda while crime is out of control in their jurisdictions.

Trump and the porn star are the circus sideshow. DeSantis should stay out of that tawdry little drama.

“..the Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he like, other Soros-funded prosecutors…”

Wait.. Aren’t DA’s paid with taxpayer money?

If a guy is known to be receiving money from people like Soros, shouldn’t they be drummed out of office - and BOTH parties of the graft be thrown in prison?

The onlyTrumpers have jettisoned fealty to the Constitution for fealty to one man. That’s incredibly dangerous.

I would hope that Trump wouldn’t want such support, as anyone who embraced such nonsense would be unworthy of any office.

The Constitution is more important than Trump, DeSantis, or anyone else. Cults of personality never end well.
