Yep. It’s a disaster and I don’t think people realize how much weaker we are because of this. I don’t necessarily think its by design.... the most logical explanation is that they are simply that incompetent.

“… Nobody is really going to “win” in the Ukraine. Nobody. Millions have already lost.…”
***************************************************************

Many, many Ukrainian multimillionaires have been created. Many tens of billions of dollars of military industrial complex defense “business” have been created. Lobbyists’ budgets/spending is exploding and political donations and “gifts” are soaring. THESE ARE THE “WINNERS”. AND NEW CASH & CONTRACTS CONTINUE TO BE ADDED TO THE TSUNAMI.

Valid point.

The fact that they are borrowing against our childrens future to enrich themselves is infuriating.

They call it freedom and democracy but the future appears a lot like the past to me. Nobility and peasants.

Not that it does matter what I feel, think and believe, but my feeling is that as long as the US remains involved this conflict will continue as I don’t think that Russia will concede. I mentioned it before and will mention it again..

If it would not be for the US most Ukrainians still would have a roof over their heads and sleep in their own beds and this war would be over by now. Probably the eastern portion of the Ukraine which has a large portion of ethnic Russians and was constantly assaulted and antagonized by radical groups would have been annexed by Russia and things eventually would have settled down. The only difference would be if Ukraine returns to Russian guidance as it has been previously for four hundred years would be somewhat less corruption and most of the radical elements would be wiped out. Aside all this conditions in Ukraine were never this bad to start a war over it.

The same goes for Europe if they had not jumped on the US bandwagon. The US purposely damaged the gas supply lines making sure that Europe in general and Germany in particular remains dependent on the US like a colony, just in case they may come to their senses and change their mind.

Those days when Russia had any ideas of expansion are long gone and over with and things of the past as Russia has more than enough and then some on its plate to take care of. All they want is a quiet neighborhood without NATO or CIA manipulation and intervention. Just like the US likes to keep their backyard free of any intruders, as expressed in the Monroe Doctrine. But the warmongers within the US government along with their associates and friends keep egging them on, knowing that a peaceful coexistence is bad for the production of war materials, especially the military industrial complex as well as the globalists, cranking out wartime supplies like there is no tomorrow and if they keep it up there may not be one. So, they keep stirring the pot until it will boil over and it isn’t too far from doing just that.

I wouldn’t say that the Neocons WANTED this war, as even the Neocons know that our hollowed-out, Drag Queen infested, Just-in-Time, military is not ready for a REAL WAR.

I think their pride doesn't allow them to see what you describe.

They haven't won a war since WWII. They've squandered it all and given it back.

They honestly probably think they can destroy Russia and steal the resources. Then they will turn on China.

I believe China, Russia, Iran, and N. Korea will band together and the odds are will defeat us.

“I believe China, Russia, Iran, and N. Korea will band together and the odds are will defeat us.”

They will DEFINITELY defeat us if we insist on fighting them, since we don’t have a way to shoot down Hypersonics, or incoming ICBMs. They may take a beating also, but that STILL won’t stop the United States from becoming a nuclear wasteland...in other words, being defeated.

Part of me thinks the Russian paranoia about Western Europe invading them as kind of ridiculous, but I am not Russian and history has shown their concerns are legitimate.

I no longer have any doubt that there are some in the American government and within NATO/EU who do want to use “Eastern Europe” to defeat Russia. Why?

It does not make much sense to me but the only conclusion that fits is to follow the money, and it’s not monetary gain for you, me, or my kids.

"Is the Ukraine better off today because of our partnership with them?"

Yes.

Biden/Democrats wanted this war because they’re crazy enough to think Russia was to blame for the Trump Presidency.

In 2019, Mearsheimer said his preferred candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary was Bernie Sanders.[83] He has said that economic inequality in the United States was the greatest problem faced by the nation.[83]

I think you are pretty well on target, matter of fact I do believe that Putin was trying to turn things around from what Russia used to be as he could tell there was no future in socialism, but once the west got a smell of it they figured no way we can allow this to happen. So they screwed things up royally.

Come hell and high water the US still wants to be the dominant power in Europe and of course there was no way they could allow Europe to become depended on Russia another reason this idiot in the white hut cut the gas pipe. Sad, sad to say the least.

I said I don’t like him and I am aware of his politics, but I listened to what he said and the timeline he provided and you can do the same - every fact he stated was correct.

I would go further and I remember very well the pledge of the US and its NATO partners when the USSR dissolved. No encroachment was the promise but there is no money in that for our elites.

You really think Ukraine is better off?

Roughly half their population has fled and it is reported (by Ukrainians) that most of those will not return. Hundreds of thousands of casualties. The country is in tatters and their infrastructure is wrecked. Assuming they “win” they will be entirely beholden on the West for aid and rebuilding and our elites will funnel tens of billions to them. Assuming they “lose” the nation will not be rebuilt and I imagine “tribalism” will dominate the nation for the non-Russian speakers.

It is sad. This did not have to happen and while I am no fan of Putin and believe him to be highly corrupt I don’t think our Ivy-league idiots left him much choice. Welcome to another “Cold War”.

My kids and yours are really better off for this?

I have not supported this war since the beginning. But, even moreso this administration’s foreign policy is insane.

Russia will never concede. They have compared it to their ‘Great War’ WWII.

Far better than living under Russian occupation.

What a dunce this Prof. The US does not have the capacity to “want” something. Biden, Congress Critters, Generals, privates may or may not want something. They have that capacity.

The “US” does not have the capacity to “want” anything.

You aren’t the United States. I’m not either. Most of the people in the country also aren’t. It’s precisely “Biden, Congress Critters, Generals,” contractors and bureaucrats who are.

Well, I have to agree with you. It will be interesting to see what happens when Russia gets the upper hand and what the US will do? As I mentioned before, I am not in love with Russia neither am I enamored with those war mongering idiots in the District of Corruption.

In this particular case I feel that Russia is more right than wrong and with the right diplomacy and the US staying out of it, much of this bloodshed could have been avoided. If Ukraine so desperately wanted and needed “Freedom” from what? I am quite sure something could have been worked out.
