Julian Assange and Eric Snowdon are for the most part, forgotten men. Two men without a country. Both have sired at least two children each since choosing to remain in exile.

I think at one point, President Trump was considering some action in favor of Assange, but was warned by Mitch McConnell, if Trump extended aid to Assange, McConnell would resign his position in the Trump Administration. This, after FBI Comey and others had left many positions open and unassigned.

Julian Assange and Eric Snowdon are for the most part, forgotten men. Two men without a country.

No, that's incorrect. Both have citizenship. Despite them sharing the dubious distinction of both being fugatives from American law enforcement for violating the Espionage Act by releasing classified documents, their situations are completely different.

Edward Snowdon is an American citizen by birth who fled certain arrest when he released classified documents to the press that showed that the NSA spies on all Americans. He proved that James Clapper, at the time the head of the NSA, had boldly lied to Congress. An act for which Clapper! was never punished.

Assange wisely met the reporters who broke the story in Hong Kong originally. This placed him outside the bounds of American power, as the FBI can't go arresting people in Hong Kong.

He fled Hong Kong one step ahead of international pursuit by American law enforcement and eventually made it to Russia. He was given temporary asylem there. This all took place in 2013.

He has remained in Russia ever since, and in Sept. 2022 he was granted full citizenship in Russia.

He is not a man without a country. He is now a Russian citizen, and technically he is probably still an American citizen, as well as a fugative from American law. It would be hard for him to travel to many other countries, as many would cooperate with America and arrest him or allow American LEOs to arrest him on their soil.

Julian Assange was born in Australia and has Australian citizenship. He too ran afoul of the U.S. regime's secret police. In attempting to avoid arrest in London, where he was living, he sought and was granted asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy, where he lived for seven years from 2012 to 2019. A change in the governing party in Ecuador resulted in his asylum being revoked, and he was turned over to the British police, by whom he was wanted on an outstanding change of violating bail. The USA sought to have him shipped to the USA to face trial for espionage, for publishing classified material. He has fought his extradition to the USA and is still held in jail in the U.K. pending final appeals in his case.

He is a quite tragic figure, and has not been free to live a normal life for more than 12 years. By most accounts his mental health has deteriorated over the period of his long ordeal.

He is a hero to many, and has many high profile supporters who feel the USA is violating the notion of a free press by prosecuting him. His situation is tragic but he is not "without a nation", rather he is an Australian citizen imprisoned by the U.K. and fighting extradition to the USA.

Both have sired at least two children each since choosing to remain in exile.

What a strange way to phrase things, like they are race horses or something. What's your point?

Edward Snowdon married his girlfriend in Russia in 2017 and they have two children. They live a fairly normal life there, by most accounts. He is employed, travels around Russia and occassionally gives speeches.

Lindsay Mills, wife of Edward Snowdon.

Julian Assange married his longtime girlfriend, Stella Morris (now Assange} in 2022, They have two children together, from his time living in the Ecuadorian embassy, They were born in 2017 and 2019. She is a lawyer and has championed his cause.

Thanks for the corrections. As you said, it is an interesting, though tragic story, for both of them. My remark about ‘sired children’ was a way to say both have somewhat moved on with their lives, making the most out of this new normal routine.
