Freedom For Women #2 Lita Grey On Charlie Chaplin
“Charlie Chaplin’s genius was in comedy.
He had no sense of humour, particularly about himself.” – Lita Grey who starred in Chaplin’s movies and was his wife for 3 years.
Geoff Fox, 15th April, 2023, American time – Lita Grey’s 115 th birthday.
I so love Charlie Chaplin’s film, Limelight. It is such a wonderful story.
If you were going to talk about her you could have mentioned that Chaplain impregnated her when she was 16 and had been working with him since she was 12, and that he was a disgusting little man.

If she had lived.
Can you imagine the things she could tell us about Old Abe had she still been around?
Ragging Commie waste of space.
The way I feel sometimes.
Lita Grey was a teenage actress, originally set to star in the film, whose surprise announcement of pregnancy forced Chaplin into marriage. She was 16 and he was 35, meaning Chaplin could have been charged with statutory rape under California law.[168] He therefore arranged a discreet marriage in Mexico on 25 November 1924.[169] They originally met during her childhood and she had previously appeared in his works The Kid and The Idle Class.[170] Their first son, Charles Spencer Chaplin III, was born on 5 May 1925, followed by Sydney Earl Chaplin on 30 March 1926.[171] On 6 July 1925, Chaplin became the first movie star to be featured on a Time magazine cover.[172]It was an unhappy marriage, and Chaplin spent long hours at the studio to avoid seeing his wife.[173] In November 1926, Grey took the children and left the family home.
