In a speech made while hosting South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, cited the Netflix show Squid Game as an example of cultural ties between the countries.
Yes, really.
Unable to contain laughter as usual, Harris stated “South Korea and the United States, as the Secretary [Blinken] has mentioned, also shared strong cultural and people to people ties. K-pop fans, they topped the billboards in the United States, including BTS, who I had the great pleasure of meeting and inviting to my office in the West Wing and to the great pleasure of my niece, I must tell you.”
She added, “I also think of the Emmy Award-winning TV shows like ‘Squid Games,’ which I will confess, Doug and I binged watched at home over a series of weeks, and I think of the actress Yuh-jung Youn who I met in Seoul last year when I convened groundbreaking South Korean women. She is the first Korean to win an Academy Award for acting. These are examples of the cultural ties and the intertwined history between our nations.”
She couldn’t think of anything cultural or historical associated with South Korea other than K-pop and Squid Game.

Heels Up Harris once boasted about never having been to Europe. But I’ve been to Europe...and elsewhere,including the DMZ. That would indicate that I know more about US/Korean history than she does.

Harris actually hasn’t a clue about S. Korea film other than her staff telling her about Squid Game. There are countless S. Koran dramas and films which has grown populiar in th US and other nations as they put Hollywood films basically to shame...both in script writing and directing....with outstanding actors who know how to get into their character roles.
All Harris knows how to do before International leaders is showing how dumb she really is....and they get it.
The only picture I can remember with Blinken smiling - I think he’s really trying to hold back a huge uproar at her insanity...

I’ve done my share of “Binge watching” Asian dramas and series. That’s because they’re such good productions and mostly actors. Not to mention directors.
I had no interest in Squid Games - too many others are above it.
Was that the same smile he had while arranging for that fraudulent “51 former security experts” thing?
No true! She clearly knew how to please a very powerful and influential guy who was 30 years her senior.
You might add kimche and the movie they gave an Oscar to a few years back, but that's true for almost all Americans.
