The good news? The US economy added 253k jobs in April. The bad news? Last months jobs report of 236k jobs added was revised downwards to 165k jobs added.

US average hourly earnings year-over-year (YoY) rose in April to 4.4%. Too bad core inflation at the last reading also rose to 5.6% YoY.

Yes, Biden and his talking heads will talk about the 253k jobs added, but will ignore (of course) the huge downward revision of March’s jobs added. 236k revised downwards to a mere 165k.

Government employment continued its upward trend in April (+23,000). Government had added an average of 52,000 jobs per month over the prior 6 months. Overall, employment in government is below its February 2020 level by 301,000, or 1.3 percent...

Would love to know how they got that figure.

....Employment in mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction rose by 6,000 in April and has risen by 102,000 since a recent low in February 2021. Nearly all of the April job gain occurred in support activities for mining....

And we're exporting record amounts of coal.

...In April, social assistance added 25,000 jobs, in line with the average monthly gain of 21,000 over the prior 6 months. Individual and family services added 21,000 jobs over the month....

Deep State will be delighted with those numbers...

Finally...

“...Employment was little changed over the month in other major industries, including
construction, manufacturing, wholesale trade, retail trade, transportation and
warehousing, information, and other services...”

IOW, it sucks.

All according to plan.

The slaughter of the middle class continues.

The only number Biden will mention when he takes to the mike, is the 253,000 jobs added. He will not mention the adjustments to the prior jobs reports.

No doubt that, the administration is messing with the numbers, and the 253,000 will also be adjusted down at next month’s report, but that won’t be mentioned.

If the government version of inflation is 5.6%, imagine what the REAL inflation is!

And yes, wages haven’t come close to keeping up with it. Except maybe minimum wages, where they have to compete with welfare giveaways.

There’s no way companies are adding jobs....our industry (Manufacturing) is very slow right now. Friends that own restaurants and repair shops are slowing as well. This feels like 2016 all over again. Oh yeah, and the headlines in 2016 were “jobs remain steady”.

I don’t like where this is headed....regardless of what the numbers state.
