Ron DeSantis’ Office Responds to Disney’s Plans to Abandon Florida Headquarters

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ office has responded to news that The Walt Disney Company will no longer build a headquarters for its theme park business in Florida. The news comes as Disney is in two legal battles over DeSantis’ actions to take over an Independent Special District that governs over Disney World property. Here’s the statement (via Scott Gustin):

Disney announced the possibility of a Lake Nona campus nearly two years ago. Nothing ever came of the project, and the state was unsure whether it would come to fruition.

Given the company’s financial straits, falling market cap and declining stock price, it is unsurprising that they would restructure their business operations and cancel unsuccessful ventures.
Jeremy Redfern, DeSantis Press Secretary

Following retaliatory action from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and a rubber-stamp legislature, Disney has added Florida to a list of legal threats to the Company’s operations. Florida joins a list of international political, trade, and security policy threats like the ongoing actions by Russia, threats to Hong Kong by China, and instability in France.

A State Prison at Disney World?

Beyond the Development Agreement, DeSantis has threatened to build a State prison at Walt Disney World. In an April 17th press conference, DeSantis floated some ideas on how CFTOD could use its land should the Development Agreement be determined to be null and void. It sounds farfetched, but DeSantis floated the idea among a list of other ideas for land use such as building more amusement parks in the immediate area next to Disney World.

What should we do with this land? And so, you know, it’s like, ok, kids – I mean, people have said, you know, maybe have another – maybe create a state park. Maybe try to do more amusement parks. Someone even said, like, maybe you need another state prison. Who knows? I mean, I just think that the possibilities are endless.

Maybe this will trigger more fighting about this Trump vs. DeSantis situation.

What is Ron’s views on federal law enforcement agencies lying about Trump while attempting to criminally set Trump up? Any comments from Ron about these agencies being weaponized?

The media is trying to spin this as DeSantis causing Disney to move a plum economic development project out of Florida. But it’s actually Disney, which is now getting a full dose of “go woke, go broke”, canceling this project completely because of their worsening financial condition. They’re not moving it somewhere else, they’re just not building it at all.

Good, we could use the extra revenue to pay off all the reparations.

A State Prison at Disney World?

Wouldn't that be kind of handy for relocating their groomers?

The Wonderful World of Prison.

Good plan. That new $2500 a night Star Wars hotel that Disney just opened last year, but is now closing?

Maybe Disney could house illegals from across the border like hotels in New York City are doing.

1) Disney just took a huge loss on their Star War theme park.
2) They are not moving the California workers out of California because the workers don’t want to move to Florida. Disney is covering up this internal revolt by blaming it on DeSantis.

Disney is doing a fine job burning themselves up with bad business decisions. DeSantis is just a convenient scapegoat for the uninformed.

Yes. In case you didn’t know it, RDS has spoken out often against Fedzilla’s aggressive actions. Not only in Florida, but across the nation.

DeSantis was also publicly critical of the illegal Mara-Lago raid by FBI goons.

For months; DeSantis was on the Trump Train supporting Trump. Until Trump went nasty as usual and started insulting DeSantis.

Correct. But just like the brand new Star Wars hotel that Disney is closing?

It’s all somehow DeSantis’ fault.

Don’t give me that lip service.

Specifically what are Desantis views on federal law enforcement agencies lying about Trump while attempting to criminally set Trump up and overthrow his presidency? Any comments from Ron about these agencies being weaponized and turned on Trump?

Desantis commented on the findings of the Durham report the day it came out. Maybe do 30 seconds of googling before making such a silly post.

True. The uninformed. And the only Trumpers.

It cracks me up to see Trump supporting Bud light, Disney and opposing the 6 week abortion ban. Why? Because he HAS to oppose the good and decent things DeSantis is doing.

Then deny them.
