There are two main reasons why explosions in the occupied south of Ukraine have grown in frequency, Ukrainian military expert Denys Popovych told Radio NV on June 4.
1- “It’s the southern direction. It is to be considered a possible target of the Ukrainian counteroffensive (as we still don’t know what is going to happen),” he told Radio NV.
2- The other reason to strike military targets in occupied Zaporizhzya and Kherson oblasts.
“Berdyansk is a port city. As Melitopol and other settlements to the south, it is a part of the so-called Russian mainland route to Crimea which is used alongside the Crimean Bridge for munition supply. They need to hit key points (of the route) in order to destroy it. That is happening now.
“Explosions were heard in the Crimean city and logistical hub of Dzankoy in the northern part of the peninsula.”it’s a railway junction which has been affected before. As it was today during an overnight attack,” Popovych said, explaining that the attack was a part of a Ukrainian campaign in the south.

Ukraine is ready to launch a counter-offensive, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Ukrainian demining units are clearing territories along the contact line in preparation for a counteroffensive, the WSJ wrote.
The demining operations are carried out manually at night to avoid revealing potential positions from which the offensive will be launched.
The former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS, predicted the Ukrainian counter-offensive to be very powerful with “army-wide effect.”

The situation on the eastern front is growing more challenging, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces have made advances in some areas, said General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Military Media Center reported on Telegram on June 4.
General Syrskyi emphasized the importance of direct engagement in combat areas to promptly address operational issues on the ground.
“This (approach) allows us to have a real understanding of the situation on the ground, rather than relying solely on reports or briefings,” he said.
“Through direct communication with unit commanders, we have developed and are implementing new approaches and strategies to achieve success at specific sections of the front as quickly as possible.”
He highlighted the efforts of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, which not only repelled an enemy attack near Svatove but also successfully counterattacked, advancing 400 meters.
He also noted the achievements of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade, whose skillful tactical actions have progressively liberated a significant portion of the territory in the Ivanivskyi Forest area.

Latvia has handed over 66 cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine free of charge, the Latvian State Bail Agency reports.
As informs Censor.NЕТ, this is stated by publication Delfi.
In the last day alone, according to the Latvian police, 17 drunk drivers were detained.
Four administrative cases and 13 criminal proceedings were initiated for drunk driving. In five cases, the vehicles of the caught drivers will be confiscated, and the cost of the vehicles will be recovered from eight drivers.
This is not the first such decision by the Latvian government. In early March, it also decided to donate eight cars to Ukraine. In April, the confiscated cars were sent to the village of Pobuzke in Kirovohrad region and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the Latvian law “On Supporting Civilians in Ukraine,” vehicles owned by Latvia can be donated to Ukraine to prevent the consequences of an emergency situation related to military operations in Ukraine and to support Ukrainian society.

Ukraine’s advance toward Svatove could be important. If Russia thinned its forces here to reinforce at Belgorod or in the south then the important transit lines through Svatove could be endangered. We’ll see.
