A huge fight broke out outside the Glendale School Board meeting in Los Angeles as parents, many of them from the Armenian-American community, came to protest the school’s pride events. Naturally, the left-wing zealots—read “Antifa”—showed up in force, and as you will see, some serious punches were thrown on both sides. A heavy police presence attempted to stop the fighting, violently pulling apart combatants to prevent serious injury.

Someone with a bullhorn shouts, “Do not engage! Step away. We are not here to fight!” Maybe that person wasn’t there to fight, but plenty of other people were. One man wearing a black helmet seems to stagger into the arms of policemen as he steps away from the brawl in the second video.

In other footage, a KCAL newscaster can be heard incredulously saying, “Wow. Oh boy” as he watches the violence escalate:

The confrontation was not entirely a surprise, as things had been heating up beforehand, as the Los Angeles Times noted:

City and school officials were bracing Tuesday for a school board meeting that was expected to be volatile as pro- and anti-LGBTQ+ protesters and speakers were set to face off on issues that touch on the role of schools in teaching gender and sexuality.

The agenda for Tuesday night’s board meeting, scheduled to start at 5 p.m., includes a vote by members on recognizing June as Pride month. The meeting comes amid a simmering climate on LGBTQ+ rights that boiled over last week when protesters violently clashed at a North Hollywood elementary school over a Pride-themed assembly.

Glendale school board meetings have been attended by protesters for the last several weeks, with anti-LGBTQ+ activists criticizing district staffers’ handling of LGBTQ+ material.

Glendale police said the clashes between protesters have included shouting but no physical confrontations. The department will have a presence at Tuesday’s meeting, officials said.

It’s notable just how slanted the Times‘ coverage is, calling protesters “anti-LGBTQ+.” They may not be; their argument is that this stuff shouldn’t be forced on their kids.

Glendale has a heavy Armenian-American presence—in fact, it has more Armenians than any city outside of Armenia itself, and some estimates show that the city’s population is 40 percent Armenian. Many Armenians have traditional values and don’t take kindly to having progressivism shoved down their throats. Here’s a tweet from my wife Roxanne last month:

In @cvspharmacy in the San Fernando Valley today & an Armenian guy started going OFF on the pride displays.

Keep pushing, Dems. And you'll find out that the immigrants you've been counting on to vote blue no matter who aren't really down for the anti-religion thing.

A friend of RedState who is at the protest said at 6:55 pm PST:

Yes it’s fine with a little side skirmish but there are still hundreds of people here they have dispersed us from the parking lot but we are basically circling the perimeter on the public sidewalk marching and such

We have been disbursed indoor marching to City Hall now.

The alphabet mob may have just found that they don’t want to mess with the Armenian-American community.

RedState will keep you updated on this breaking story as it develops.

RE: Heard a parent say he is keeping his children out until this is dealt with.

Where are the kids to go instead? Homeschool?

“Today’s America is a Marxist controlled State, if you haven’t noticed.”

Obviously I’ve noticed, LOL. The immigrants who come here that I talk with, particularly Asians, seriously wonder if they made the right choice.

The Armenians here must be wondering the same - either live (relatively) poor back home with safe schools for their kids, or live much wealthier in the US, but put your kids at HIGH RISK of being the next Dylan Mulvaney.

True, of course we always have to worry regardless of where we are but we dont have to worry as much since he does NOT go to LAUSD thank God..that’s why she left the city to get away from this nonsense here..at least over there its not being taught but the kids still discuss it..the question of “What does gay mean” my sister didn’t know what to say to him so she told him its a word that you don’t say..was that the right decision not sure..but he heard other kids on the playground ask what it is and he heard one say that gay means sexy or happy..they must have heard it on TV or from their parents because the teachers are not teaching it for sure, she asked him he said no it came from the kids so regardless of where you are they are still mentioning it unfortunately

Glendale is basically SoCal’s Armenian colony.

Beware of the BMW street racers.

Assuming he is waving it instead of confiscating it, look at that fool with the clerical collar and the pride flag.

The Armenian’s take zero sh*t from anyone

Armenian Christians were Islamicized, tortured or genocided in the last century. Armenian-Americans are not eager for a repeat.

We have three kids, now 32-36 years old. When they were little, “That’s so gay” was a common schoolyard taunt. None of them knew what it meant and they didn’t ask. The leftists at the time did what they could to stamp it out.

Times have changed a lot.

The rainbow, a promise between God and earth, has been perverted, defiled and erased. Now, it belongs to Satan.

They only think it does. God will not be mocked. His patience will not last forever. Could the rainbow be a test-marketing for the mark of the beast?

Right now, God is probably watching the rainbow to see where the so-called Christians render their allegiance: to “Caesar” or to God (Mark 12:17).

many/most of them are Catholic

Their religious heritage from Armenia is overwhelmingly Orthodox. The Armenia-Americans I've known are Armenian Orthodox. According to Wikipedia:

Religion in Armenia (2011 census)
Armenian Apostolic Church (92.5%) (Orthodox)
Other Christian (2.3%)
Yazidism (0.8%)
Other (0.4%)
None (4.0%)

As of 2011, most Armenians in Armenia are Christians (97%) and are members of the Armenian Apostolic Church, which is one of the oldest Christian churches. It was founded in the 1st century AD, and in 301 AD became the first branch of Christianity to become a state religion.

Same here. We have a large Russian refugee community comprised of Jews, Christians, and those raised without religion in the USSR. As soon as Obama was “installed,” one of my customers said they “heard the rumblings of tanks in the streets.”

I’m more inclined to think that will “BIDEN BUCKS” Joe’s new executive order

God Bless these Armenian parents who won’t take this crap being taught to their kids. My sister thank God moved to Calabasas to get away from this crap..my nephews schools are NOT LAUSD so she doesn’t have to worry about it, but the 8 yr old came home yesterday and asked “What does gay mean” no not because the teacher said it, some kids in the school were asking on the playground what gay means

Calabasas is served by Las Virgenes Unified School District...The district recently recognized "Pride Month"...

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs9CodZu6Cd/

Las Virgenes Unified is better than LAUSD...However, it is just as politically correct as LAUSD...
