The neo-cons running NR allow you to print THAT!
Does he know he’s governor and he has the authority to stop illegals, invaders from entering Florida from water, air, etc?
why hasn’t he addressed that?
shipping them around or letting citizens or businesses of his state have to deal with them is no way to be a leader.
they shouldn’t set foot off the boat or plane to begin with.
so far I see desantis is a follower, signs papers the legislature passes but has done nothing good on his own initiative. If it doesn’t line his pocket he doesn’t do it.
Does anybody really know what time it is?
Does anybody really care?
Wow! Great article! Thank you for posting.
I have been wearing my figures out trying to type this same message on this board. Trump supporters cannot seem to get this.
Trump has lost three election cycles in row: 2018, 2020, and 2022. And he barely won 2016 to start with.
Trump is more toxic than Hillary, and he will lose again.
Ridiculous article. DeSantis has no intention on focusing on the 2020 election any more than he has to. He was asked a question, who won, and gave the correct answer, Biden was sworn in, therefore Biden won.
Trump is the one who not only wants to stay focused on 2020, but needs to. It's part of his sympathy routine. Which, one has to admit, is working quite well.
So DeSantis was probably targeting that a little, but it won't be a focus of his campaign. He's made that clear, his campaign is strictly about bringing the strong conservative values he's helped implement in Florida, to the nation.
Another Never Trumper from 2016 resurfaces for DeSantis. Why would anyone take this creep seriously?
Ron believes the election wasn't stolen in 2020, doesn't seem to care that it may happen again in 2024, and certainly would not do much to challenge it if it did happen.
Candidates who focused on 2020 almost al llost last yaer, at least in the major races we needed to win.
Florida has been a leader in election reform, but obsessing on it as a centerpieceof the campaign will lose the presidency, Senate, and House in 2024.
I’d be impressed if he were in kindergarten.
I mean: why is the National Review writing a story that criticizes Ron DeSantis. That didn't make sense.
But a few paragraphs in, I understood the argument. Essentially the author is lightly slapping DeSantis on the wrist for bringing up the issue of 2020 Election Fraud -- and he argues DeSantis can win if he merely resets the time clock to today: 2023... and leaves the past to history. So the story is a net positive message for DeSantis. And that's why DeSantis' FR supporters are cheerleading this thread.
Trouble is: the author gets his premise wrong. From the beginning of his campaign, DeSantis has been AVOIDING the topic of 2020 election fraud. Even his pre-campaign book fails to address the 2020 election fraud issue adequately.
Only recently, when the curiosity of voters and the media FORCED DeSantis to clarify his stance on 2020 election fraud did we learn DeSantis believes election fraud in 2020 is NOT a serious issue -- which, of course, is the opposite of what the vast majority of MAGA voters believe.
Bottom line: DeSantis can't get elected by whistling past the 2020 election fraud graveyard. This is a crucial issue for MAGA voters. And if you can't attract MAGA voters, you can't win the Republican primary.
