This was a dark chapter in our history.

We let profits and the known untapped potential for future profits over ride our most basic values.

Since then we have repeated this many times and Saudi Arabia is but one other example. Any discussion of human rights, democracy, or sovereignty today by us is laughed at by most people outside our media world.

They realize these are just a cheap punchlines we use when convenient. These concepts/ideas are used to rationalize our actions when our economic interests dictate a certain course of action.

But you are right in digging up this part of our past, in so far, that it was the the begining of a new world for us, or as Bush H put it best, a “new world order.”
