Report: Maui Residents Burned To Death In Their Cars Because Of Barricades Blocking Escape

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that residents of Lahaina in Maui were prevented from escaped the horrific wildfire by barricades that were put up after electric polls were downed.

The report contains shocking details revealing that people were turned back by a crew as they attempted to flee, with several being burned alive in their cars or in the middle of the street as a result.

The report notes that some disobeyed the order and drove around the barricades, enabling them to escape and survive:

One family swerved around the barricade and was safe in a nearby town 48 minutes later, another drove their 4-wheel-drive car down a dirt road to escape. One man took an dirt road uphill, climbing above the fire and watching as Lahaina burned. He later picked his way through the flames, smoke and rubble to pull survivors to safety.

But dozens of others found themselves caught in a hellscape, their cars jammed together on a narrow road, surrounded by flames on three sides and the rocky ocean waves on the fourth. Some died in their cars, while others tried to run for safety.”

One survivor noted that if she had obeyed the order to turn around she and her children would have been cooked alive:

“The gridlock would have left us there when the firestorm came,” said Cuevas-Reyes, 38. “I would have had to tell my children to jump into the ocean as well and be boiled alive by the flames or we would have just died from smoke inhalation and roasted in the car.”

The scenes of burned cars are truly horrific:

This latest update comes after it was revealed that authorities failed to sound sirens and warn residents they were in grave danger.

Resident Nate Baird told the AP “We needed like 10 more minutes, and we could have saved a lot of kids,” adding “If we’d just had like a 10- or 15-minute warning.”

Meanwhile, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) agents are shacking up in 5-star luxury beachfront resorts in Maui amid the agency’s botched handling of the deadly wildfire disaster.

There are still approximately 1,110 people missing.

The Daily Mail reports that FBI investigators have compiled a list of names of those who haven’t been found and will be releasing it later this week.

Joe Biden’s response to the disaster, cracking jokes and making it about himself after ignoring it for two weeks, was just downright frightening:

Along with burned flesh, I am smelling some hefty class action law suits coming soon, targeting the authorities at all levels. After all, speaking plainly, the deepest of pockets are in government.

And the liability settlements will be big, compared to Bidet’s pitiful $700 checks.

The 1100 missing are incinerated by central planning.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity...unless if Democrat government officials are involved. Then it’s malice and evil all the way.

What will “lawsuits” do?

It’s like when I hear victims of terrorism suing Iran, or Hezbollah or Hamas. like seriously!

5-0 and the FBI have APBs out on those miscreants now and are conducting extensive searches to arrest them for that insolent infraction.

So— the electric crew that stopped them were not burned up? That IS strange. Electric “polls” and all the poles that were downed when the electric lines fell? Why were the poles down blocking a road? How is that possible without trees to pull them down? This is a bizarre story for certain.

“Incompetence is strong with that government”

Just like Louisiana during hurricane Katrina if you think about it.....democrat run, a natural disaster hits and they all have the deer in the headlights look when they have to make life or death decisions.....completely unprepared and people died.

Thats what happens when people are elected because of what they are not because they have the most experience.

What will “lawsuits” do?

Nothing.

Bureaucrats always believe they are immune to the consequences of their decisions and orders. They have good reason to believe that, because it is true. Until it isn't.

Perhaps surviving relatives will hunt down government officials and exact more personal consequences for these horrific deaths.

I cannot think of anything else that will have an effect.

“I don’t think we’re in America anymore, Toto.”

The incompetency of bureaucracy across the board is stunning and frightening. It has to be coming from the indoctrinated schools and affirmative action hiring.
The emergency manager of my county made the decision to NOT warn or evacuate us during the Alameda fire. We were 3500 elderly citizens and she decided we could get”confused “ if evacuated. I was able to convince some neighbors to leave but most just laughed at me saying the authorities would tell us if we were in the fires path.

Most got out when they saw flames in the driveway and got out with nothing. For most senior CITIZENS, precious keepsake is all they had.
The escape traffic was indescribable. It took hours to get out. I can’t get in that car without shaking.

I’m so sorry what has happened in Hawaii.
