We don’t know the whole story of why this guy all of the sudden became popular.
We know it was a totally forced meme, that every single shill conservative influencer posted the same day.
But it’s unclear how aware of this Oliver actually was – according to the story, someone came to him and offered to produce the song for him.
New York Post:
The men south of Richmond were on a high when viral phenomenon Oliver Anthony made a surprise appearance at a street festival here Saturday night.
Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” has rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, propelling a once-unknown songwriter from south-central Virginia onto the national stage.
But he’s staying close to his roots.
He opened his Rock the Block festival appearance by reading a Bible verse to the crowd of about 350 locals then said, “Despite what you’ve been reading on the Internet, this song still rings true,” and launched into his first song, “Ain’t Got a Dollar.”
His life has changed since he first sang its lyric “I ain’t gotta dollar, But I don’t need a dime,” with his estimated earnings now as high as $40,000 a day.
You give a guy $40,000 a day, he’s going to do what he’s told to do.
The number of people who will fight for anything at all in the face of that kind of money is less than 1 in 10,000, and probably even less than that.
A headline primed to stoke envy and suspicion.
Classy guy, this Chris Black.
We should be suspicious of anybody who comes out of nowhere to be at the top of the charts. They are often supported by people with agendas.
That doesn’t mean this person didn’t chart out of nowhere, but he should be checked out.
Of course you don't.
They are dam right that they don’t know the whole story. the song is about them.
I doubt Anthony makes $40K a day. But if he does, good for him.
He bought some land, lives in a camper and says he wants to have
livestock on his land.
I hope he makes enough to build a house, buy some livestock
and live his dream.
Be very suspicious when you see the words “as high as”.
Let’s investigate every one hit wonder. They must be up to something nefarious. Macarena, by Los Del Rio, is the number one, one hit wonder of all time. I bet Macarena was a commie.
The Left cannot understand why anyone or anything would oppose them. They assume by projection that it must be a conspiracy.
You give a guy $40,000 a day, he’s going to do what he’s told to do.
How incredibly cynical. Prayers for the state of Chris Black’s soul.
“You give a guy $40,000 a day, he’s going to do what he’s told to do.”
Jealosy & envy are very unbecoming. I have an idea. Let’s just leave Oliver Anthony alone. Allow him to make his music, his way. In peace. He and his music literally exploded on the country less than a month ago and already both sides of the political spectrum are, at the same time trying to claim him as their own or tear him apart for being on the wrong side.
My God people, allow him at least a couple of months to enjoy his success.
Looks like about all you do is start threads by this “Chris Black”.
That wouldn’t be you struggling with the green-eyed monster, would it?
Envy is a deadly sin. This is exactly why. They hate anything they don’t control, they hate anyone who does well. They hate you, they hate me. They hate themselves.
He deserves it, he’s tapped into a new burgeoning market. Piss and moan country music. In business timing is everything. When is he going to run for President?
Nice.
Sorry, but I don't believe for even a second that he's pulling in that much, though I'm happy for whatever success he's having. You have to rise almost all the way up to the Taylor Swift level to pull in that kind of cash in the music business.
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the money come from internet download of his song? Aren’t these individual purchases he’s benefitting from?
I don’t blame the guy for wanting to stay independent, no one to tell you what to do and what song you can sing. Also, the guy has history apparently with addiction demons. It’s best to stay away from temptation.
Wow. It did not take long for the media to turn on this guy.
Yes, he is making a lot of money. Good for him. It’s called capitalism.
It is a shame he doesn’t fit into the mold that people want to shove him into. Our system just eats folks who don’t want to play their games.
I have always been troubled by drug addicted and addled actors and rock stars making millions but just wrote it off as a flaw in the free market. It should reward the good guys occasionally as well.
