Fauci was alerted in January 2020 that NIH had underwritten the discovery of dozens of novel coronaviruses of the same species as SARS-CoV-2. NIH had also funded research of these viruses in Wuhan.

Fauci had been informed by January 2020 that his institute had funded the discovery and study of dozens of novel coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, including the closest cousin virus to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, new records show.
A new email obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit confirms that privately Fauci knew the magnitude of the coronavirus research going on at the coronavirus pandemic’s epicenter, even while publicly shrugging off suggestions the pandemic began with a research accident as conspiratorial.
This apparent deception has held back the public’s understanding of the matter and hindered independent investigations into the source of the worst pandemic in a century.
In an email dated January 27, 2020, Fauci received talking points for a press availability that evening. An aide laid out in detail the research at the Wuhan lab funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases — the institute Fauci steered for decades.

Even this story is a modified limited hangout. Fauci wasn't "alerted in January 2020" about NIH funding involving "coronaviruses of the same species as SARS-COV-2." Rather, Fauci was aware of it all along. Nothing got funded by NIH without Fauci's say-so. That's how it's worked for years.
I mean, that's Building Block #1 in ascertaining what went down with SARS-COV-2, U.S. involvement in same, and the subsequent development of the garbage modRNA "vaccines." Anybody who portrays Fauci as being informed after-the-fact is either profoundly ignorant of what they're writing about or else is a coverup artist.

As I recall, I believe it was the NIH indirectly funding the SAR’s gain of function research at University of Chappel Hill (prior to helping to fund the Wuhan lab) that included participation by several Wuhan University researchers as far back as 2015. It is likely Fauci knew about it.

It is certain that Fauci knew about it. Absolutely certain. While, strictly speaking, Fauci was the director of only one of the 27 separate institutes that make up NIH (specifically, NIAID), for decades Fauci had been the real "power behind throne" at NIH insofar as he controlled the purse strings connected to the big-money grants.
Fauci is no "scientist." Fauci is no "medical researcher." Fauci has a medical degree from way back when, but even a fairly smart chicken can get some sort of an M.D. if they put their back into it. But as it is, Fauci himself knows pretty much nothing about anything, as far as "the science" goes. The man knows no more about virology than I do, and I know nothing about it. Fauci only ever was a government bureaucrat who came to master the bureaucratic art of controlling government money. As a consequence, every real scientist, every real medical researcher, had to kiss his ring in order to get their opportunity to suck at the government teat.
As for "the science," Fauci was essentially the equivalent of a locker room jock sniffer. He wished for the respect and admiration of real scientists but, of course, could never obtain it, as he was never anything more than a colorless, talentless, ignorant hack. But since he came to control the money, everybody who wanted in had to kiss his ass.
If Fauci told liberals to wear a mask in the shower, they would.
Then all the pharmas waited until February when China released their incorrect model of the virus to begin working on the Covid ‘vaccines’.The pharmas reported that the isolated virus was ‘not available’ so they based the vaccines on China’s claimed vaccine model even as they knew (well they always knew) about Wuhan and Trump was calling it the ‘China’ virus.
Oh, give me a break. He was in on the whole thing.
