Five ex-Memphis police officers were indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with the fatal beating of black motorist Tyre Nichols.
Authorities earlier this year released bodycam footage of five Memphis police officers beating motorist Tyre Nichols during a traffic stop.
Earlier this year, the state charged the five police officers with second-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of Tyre Nichols.

The officers, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith – were fired after Tyre Nichols died following a violent confrontation during a January 7 traffic stop.
A federal grand jury indicted the five former Memphis officers on Tuesday on charges “relating to the deprivation of rights under color of law, including excessive force and failure to intervene as well as deliberate indifference, and conspiracy to witness-tamper,” ABC News reported.

Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, Emmitt Martin III and Desmond Mills Jr. were indicted on charges relating to the deprivation of rights under color of law, including excessive force and failure to intervene as well as deliberate indifference, and conspiracy to witness-tamper, according to court records.
Nichols, 29, died on Jan. 10, three days after a violent confrontation with police following a traffic stop.
All five former officers also face state felony charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping, in connection with Nichols’ death. They pleaded not guilty.

I kinda doubt it, but you never know................
I remember hearing rumors about everything from gang affiliation to something involving the victim and one of the cops wives.
There’s going to be a whole lot of story behind this case.

So people will presume the perps are white and America is racist.
We all know why, of course.
Most headlines and articles are slanted the same way on purpose.
You’re the enemy white people.
“…nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb;”
One of the more consistently violated constitutional rights.
Nope. Those were dispelled shortly after Tyre’s death.
The story is not complicated. He moved to Memphis from California to be with his mother.
He worked as a boxmaker at FedEx.
He got pulled over for an unspecified reason. These cops were known for their brutality as per interactions with the public in the past.
He got scared and ran.
He had no criminal history.
Yeah, watching an addict O.D. from fentanyl on video isn't a pleasant site for anyone, except maybe the ambulance chasers.
Thank G*d that the cops weren’t white - otherwise, another case of “Katie, bar the door!”
It appears that the beating/killing was over the victim seeing one of the perp’s girlfriend. This should be premeditated.
The only question if that had been the case would have been, when will the riots commence?
