reminds me of an interchange I had at Town Hall here in Massachusetts a few years ago.While asking for an absentee ballot I asked the town clerk,just out of curiosity,if a person had to prove US citizenship to register to vote. “Oh,no” she exclaimed,stunned by the question.Long story short: I found that it's *illegal* in this state for a city or town official to ask for proof of citizenship when taking a voter registration application.Her supervisor explained to me that applicants affirm,under oath,that they're US citizens.
