A few decades ago, back when they started looking and Using X-ray, a manager of a business who apparently was not well liked, went on an airplane trip. The briefcase was run through the X-ray machine. Bingo a gun was displayed on the X-ray. More guards, man pulled aside, briefcase opened and searched. No gun? Briefcase run back through X-ray machine. GUN showed up again! Ok more guards, more searching, still no gun. WTF, what type of person do they have? Hit man, spy? Again searched the briefcase, almost tearing it apart. Finally a guard found a metal silhouette of a gun in slipped into a folder....
Unliked manager missed his business flight. He ran a machine shop...... returned and fired a machinist.....
I’ve heard a few versions of that story over the years, including one in some spy novel (might have been Shibumi, but I’m not certain). Personally, I think it’s an urban legend.
