United Nations Slams Israel for Retaliating Against Terrorist Group That Killed Israeli Civilians

It was only a matter of time before the United Nations started attacking Israel for retaliating against Hamas after the terrorist organization launched a surprise attack that killed hundreds of Israelis on Saturday. While the U.N. and other countries first expressed sympathy for Israeli civilians killed during the onslaught, they are predictably turning to criticism now that the Jewish state is fighting back against the terrorists.

This was inevitable given the U.N.’s history of bias against Israel in favor of the country’s enemies. But given the severity of Hamas’ latest attack, it might be difficult to sustain this particular criticism against Israel.

Israeli retaliatory air strikes against the Hamas militant group struck residential buildings and schools across the Gaza Strip, U.N. Human Rights chief Volker Turk said on Tuesday, adding that "sieges" were illegal under international law.

Turk also condemned "horrifying mass killings by members of Palestinian armed groups" and said the militants' abduction of hostages was also forbidden under international law.

Turk’s remarks come days after Israel announced that its military would be laying siege to the Gaza Strip, the area Hamas controls, as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) roots out those responsible for the killings that took place on Saturday.

The U.N. official condemned Israel’s actions, noting that the “imposition of sieges that endanger the lives of civilians by depriving them of goods essential for their survival is prohibited under international humanitarian law.” Turk also contended that the siege “risks seriously compounding the already dire human rights and humanitarian situation in Gaze.”

Other U.N. officials spoke up as well.

Such acts may amount to a war crime, U.N. Human Rights spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani later clarified. The U.N. rights office's findings were based on a review of available material, including from its own monitors on the ground, she said.

Separately, a U.N. -appointed Commission of Inquiry said in a statement there was already "clear evidence that war crimes may have been committed" by all sides to the conflict. It said it was collecting evidence to ensure future legal accountability.

On Monday, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also slammed Israel, saying he was “deeply distressed” by Israel’s response to being attacked by terrorists who killed and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis.

Yet, very few statements were made condemning Hamas and Iran for having started this whole mess in the first place. With the Iranian regime’s help, Hamas operatives launched rockets and ground assaults specifically intended to target civilians, which would also constitute a war crime. Yet, we don’t see the same energy coming from the U.N. against those who initiated the carnage.

But this is just the latest example exposing the U.N.’s ongoing bias against the Jewish state. Last year, the United Nations General Assembly passed more resolutions critical of Israel than all other nations combined. This includes China, which oppresses Uyghur Muslims and traps them in concentration camps, and North Korea, whose government routinely starves its citizenry and rules the region with an iron fist.

The lopsided focus exhibited in 2022 was not an outlier; it is normal operating procedure for the United Nations. The organization has adopted an overwhelming number of resolutions against Israel while all but completely ignoring nations with documented human rights abuses and atrocities.

The U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC) has also shown itself to be a bad joke in how it designates certain countries as human rights abusers while ignoring others. The agency has imposed a permanent agenda item that specifically targets Israel for human rights violations – a step that is not taken with any other country. Meanwhile, governments like those of Iran and Sudan, which are notorious human rights abusers, are never given this level of scrutiny.

These two examples are only a tiny percentage of actions the United Nations has taken to condemn and discredit Israel since the organization’s existence. In light of this, it’s not exactly surprising that its officials would come out days after Israel was brutally attacked and cast aspersions on the nation for defending itself. But again, it gives us yet another example showing why the United Nations should never be taken seriously.

The UN will start executing an Israeli hostage every time Israel even looks like it’s going to retaliate.

The U.N. Human Rights Council is a joke in their name as indicated by their antisemitic bias. Where is their condemnation of the atrocities committed by the Hamas savages? Any organization who blames the victim has had too much lobster and hookers.

What do you expect from an organization that once had a real Nazi as Secretary General?

The UN could give George Soros the title and they’d have two.

The U.N. is merely a nest of overpaid antisemitic clowns who pass their days writing meaningless antisemitic and anti-Israel “resolutions”. They are a nexus of vermin taking up valuable real estate in Manhattan. Toss these poisonous fiends out of our country and turn the building into affordable senior housing for CITIZENS—not illegal criminal invaders.
