Except his dad was likely a CIA agent, chief of Radio Marti’s anti-Castro propaganda operations, so that really makes no sense.
Best I can figure is he is controlled opposition. I don’t believe he is legimately “pro-Russia”, but he is playing that part on tv, probably to establish his bona fides with the people who lean that way so that the CIA can use him to shift the narrative later on.
He’s an actor, who looks at the market and decided on the niche that would make him the richest.
