[Uncompromising condemnation of the Hamas attack at the beginning of the war - Narendra Modi]
Since 1948, India has not supported Israel's wars even once. In the past, it supported its enemies, and even sent Arab countries aid.
A few hours since the images of the massacre taking place in the south of Israel began to flow on the morning of October 7, a series of condemnations from world leaders began to accumulate. One condemnation was particularly historic: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leader of the world's largest democracy and one of its most popular leaders, tweeted his uncompromising support for Israel. Since 1948, India has not supported Israel's wars even once. In the past it supported its enemies, and even sent aid to the Arab countries. The year 2023 will be remembered as the year when India left its historical fears behind and stood bravely by its friend's side. The real support will of course only be measured in the long term.
In the past, India has traditionally supported the Palestinians. Today, Modi's support for Israel is part of a series of course changes from decades of cautious policy regarding the Middle East in general, and toward Israel in particular. If support had not come from Delhi, it would have raised questions about the ruling BJP's fight against terrorism and Islamic extremism. Modi's statement left no room for doubt. In his tweet on the X network (Twitter), he wrote: "Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult time." Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar retweeted the statement. The wording of the statement and the speed of the response were impressive, and are evidence of the changes that have taken place in India's foreign policy and domestic politics.
Since Modi came to power in 2014, we have witnessed isolated instances of deviation from the long-standing foreign policy formulated by the country's founding fathers under the long-term rule of the "Congress Party". Among these exceptional cases, we can mention the Indian choice to refrain from voting against Israel in the UN Human Rights Council in 2015 and 2016. Delhi's moves were made sparingly, as it pursues a foreign policy that advocates multiple partnerships. For example, Delhi hosted the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, before Modi's historic visit to Israel in 2017. Shortly before that, India joined the countries opposing the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
A balanced policy
In the current crisis, the Modi government stands by Israel. Israeli officials also report that "we get full backing from the Indians". The BJP's political rival, the "Congress Party", which is in the middle of an election campaign, behaves differently. The party committee, in an official statement, expressed its "dismay at the war that broke out in the Middle East and in which over a thousand people were killed in the last two days. The committee reiterates its long-standing support for the Palestinian people's rights to territory, self-government, and a life of dignity. The committee calls for an immediate cease-fire and to open negotiations on all The existing issues, including the essential issues that gave rise to the current conflict." The reaction of the "Congress Party", which branded itself as the "defender of human rights" in the country, disappointed many in India and became a subject of controversy. BJP leaders have attacked the rival party for supporting Hamas and terrorism and using the war as a means of pandering to its Muslim voters...
Since India’s primary foe is China, and China decided to back the Palestinians, this is an interesting turn of events.
I doubt the statement took into account anything about China’s stance, but this does continue to slowly move India away from the Axis of Evil.
India has a lot to do with Chinese foreign policy. India could very easily blockade China’s oil supplies. Either by cutting the pipelines or putting a couple of torpedo boats along the sea lanes. If India decides to back Taiwan it’s really really bad news for China. There is absolutely no love lost between the two.
Modi is also not steeped in the Globull Warming, Globull Cooling, Climate Change, Climate Crisis hoax. He recently announced that they are increasing their coal mining to develop more electricity. The Climate hoaxers would have millions of Indians without air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, etc. Modi is even developing a space program.

Well I’d say IT’S ABOUT TIME.
Hindus and Sikhs have a little bit of experience with Islam.
India, according to its constitution, is a "Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic." And a partridge in a pear tree.
Anybody who mistakes a "Socialist Democracy" for a democracy must've slept through civics class.

The words"Secular" and "Socialist" were introduced during the Emergency of 1975, by rushing it through a suspended "Parliament", when every opposition member was either arrested or forced underground. It was never a part of the original Constition of 1950.
Till now,no party has the parliamentary majority to change this, iirc needs 66.66% or 70% vote to change the constitution. The current governing party has made enough noises about removing the word "secular" which it absolutely detests. Socialism in India effectively means benefits to the miserably poor mostly in the form of free grain or subsidised medical care, a position very few here have a problem with.The Supreme Court is still packed with the old regimes favourites and it is not sensible to challenge it in court as yet. But if the BJP continues, bet on the words being dropped as being illegally added.
