Once in Effect, Campus Carry Quickly Becomes a Non-Issue

Campus carry exists when students can legally carry guns on university and college campus premises. The practice quickly becomes a non-issue, according to police chief James Terry of Marshall University in West Virginia. West Virginia is scheduled to join eleven other states where carry on campus by permit holders has been restored as a matter of law. West Virginia is scheduled to implement campus carry on July 1, 2024. From dominionpost.com:

Marshall University Police Chief James Terry said the Action Learning Team is comprised of a cross section of all campus stakeholders and meets every two weeks on the issue. Terry said because the law is something new, they started by talking to people from campuses that have campus carry in place. The coverage determined the law was a concern on campus and was diminished a short time after becoming law.

“They talked to every school that has campus carry in effect right now, and they identified no issues, and they also said within six months to a year it’s a non-issue,” Terry said. “Now, we’ll see if that’s the
case in West Virginia.”

With the restoration of the right to bear arms in most of the United States, many states have removed infringements on the right to carry arms on college and university campus grounds or recognized the infringements were not legal.

The states that have removed infringements or ruled them to be illegal occurred in the following order:

Utah 2006, Colorado 2010, Oregon 2011, Wisconsin 2011, Mississippi 2012, Idaho 2014, Tennessee 2016, Arkansas 2017, Georgia 2017, Kansas 2017, and Texas 2017.

When the ability to legally carry on campus is restored, nothing bad happens. Campus carry becomes a non-issue, once it is implemented.

The reason it’s a non-issue for at least some campii here in Texas is that most of the students aren’t even American anymore (thank you, American public schools), so they cannot legally own, much less carry.

"Stakeholder" is a weasel-word used by stealth Communists to insinuate ownership rights over things that do not belong to them.

But then womyn, minorities and LGBTQs will be quaking in fear at the danger they are in by not having a ban on carrying firearms on campus! Oh, and oppressed Palestinians, too!

If I were in college these days, I definitely would fight like hell for concealed carry. Those unsafe places are loaded with America’s scumbags since the idiots decided that “EVERYONE” should go to college. That’s not true. “Everyone” does not have the intellect to go to college.

Some don’t have the intellect, others are too smart to bother.

Only one of my kids has a four year degree, yet they all work great jobs, one is even a book editor. (she works in the educational sector but a book she freelance proofread is on the best seller list right now)

My nieces were at VT during the massacre .... one was an Engineering student & by the grace of God was in the building next door to where the massacre took place (heard the shots, was told by SWAT to run) ... on other days, she had classes in that very building. She lost 3 people close to her: a professor who was a mentor, a teaching assistant friend & a sorority sister.

Both of my nieces hunt (bow, black powder, rifle/shotgun) & both were on the college skeet shooting team. Both have handguns and are proficient, currently have a concealed carry permits. I have NO doubt that if allowed to conceal carry on that campus, they would have and if confronted with that shooter, they would have defended themselves and their classmates with deadly force. The shooter, as soon as he heard the police breaking in (he had the doors chained/locked), committed suicide. If met with deadly force early on, I think the suicide result would have been the same if he wasn’t killed outright. The students were ‘fish in a barrel’ and unable to defend themselves. Concealed carry should be allowed, Leftists and all their emotional ‘fears’ be damned - the ‘data’ does not support their “I won’t feel safe” position.

The gun grabbers know this is the way it always plays out. For that reason they fight to prevent carry at every step. I remember when Mi was passing right to carry. The gun control people were hysterical. They claimed the state was going to become a kill zone. It passed and nothing happened of course. One of the most vocal opponents was asked and he said “oh well I guess l was wrong and changed the subject”.

I work in the community college system in Kentucky and last year it was proposed that college students and employees with carry permits be allowed to carry on campus. The media, administration and faculties collective heads exploded in opposition and it was voted down.

On my campus alone, there are no armed security guards, no security guards period. We had a student threaten faculty and staff last spring and none of their SNAP alerts procedures worked and most of the faculty and staff were clueless what to do. My department found out early by accident of one of our staff members being present when the threat was revealed by an administration member trying to get a photo of the guy making the threat. Long story short, nearly an hour after the threat was made, when the police had made contact with the guy at his home, we were officially told to go home. After all was said and done, the guy who made the threats is now attending classes again on campus. We are seriously so unprepared for anything. I have told my wife if anything happens lawyer up and own the place.

Purchase and become proficient with one of the pocket carry 9mm pistols (mine is a Sig 365) and CARRY IT!

Better to live through an active shooter event by being able to defend yourself and your buddies/friends/classmates and ask for forgiveness than ask for permission and be denied because of some BS law!

Aliens are allowed to own firearms. They are included on the form 4473.
