They aren’t going to remove him. They will prop him up through then convention.. why?
Because they can replace him without a need for a primary so long as he pulls out after their convention.
Formally nominate him, have him withdraw after that then the dnc can just name anyone to replace him on the ticket without a single vote needed
My father and I were discussing this. He was elected to the state legislature the same year Nixon became president, so he was very familiar with the race in 1968.
If you remember Johnson didn’t run because of Vietnam. RFK Sr. was assassinated before the convention. That left McCarthy and McGovern. They were already candidates and McGovern had the most votes so he got the nomination.
So with filing dates in some states passed and others quickly approaching either (whoever the obscure person currently running against Biden) will be the nominee vs. Biden/ Harris.
I’m not sure states allow drop in candidates after the deadline has passed.
As Kamala would have filed with the Biden/Harris ticket then she could remain on the ballot in all the states in case Joe was to have an unfortunate “mishap”.
Does this make sense? I’m trying to say that many states’ laws may not allow a party to parachute in a new candidate at the last minute if they already have a candidate (Harris) on the ballot.
This is one of the few time the Democrats are capable of thinking logically. Can't promise it will be Gavin Newsome. It might be Mrs. John Fetterman or any other useful idiot.
