Just watched this on one of the "free" movie websites. If you liked "Dead Poets Society" you will probably like this. It's just a nice, plain, old-fashioned movie with plot and character development and no gender-deranged/climate change propaganda.

I forgot to mention that it’s a Christmas movie because it takes place at Christmas.

Yes. A very nice movie about lonely people finding friendship. And a coming of age story. Giamatti is very good as the teacher stuck babysitting kids who can't go home for Christmas.

I would think if you wanted Hollywood to make more of these types of movies, instead of stealing it, you should pay for it to encourage more of these types of movies to be made.

Diehard is definitely a Christmas movie.
They even have an Advent Calendar for it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I had noticed this when it was being well received in festivals but haven't seen it yet. An old fashioned, character driven movie with nothing skunky is my kind of film. Let me push a step further. "Good" films is the first tier, and those come in all genres. I am not a genre snob. But I'm especially on the lookout for good conservative films. Is there anything in The Holdovers (maybe buried in the subtext) that pushes it in that direction?
