Austin is just an affirmative action idiot saying what he is told to say.
I call the idiots bluff.

To be clear I want border security and wish democrats would fold.
But this branch of nutty isolationists actually don’t want the border secured if it means funding Ukraine.

I’ve watched Tucker Carlson for years and he has been breathtakingly dishonest on this issue.

Tucker also doesn’t want to help Israel or Taiwan. He’s a kook.

Facts and truth use to be the bedrock of the conservative movement. Apparently, no more.

I’m claiming CIA-sponsored volunteers and/or advisors. “Former” soldiers who are “officially” not active duty, but really, of course they are.

And how do you know this since it was a closed door meeting?

There isn’t any evidence of such a thing so there is no reason to pretend that you know all these details.

How do you know this is not exactly what Austin said since it was a closed door meeting?

I'm claiming they are officially "former" U.S. special forces, but now officially mercs or volunteers, but still sponsored and funded by the CIA. Perhaps via some private contractor like Blackwater (though it's now called something else).

‘It might be a good idea to speed up the timeline and remove Biden from office as soon as possible.’

might? he should have been impeached months ago. what’s the hold up Speaker Johnson?

There's a decades long history of the CIA funding private contractors made up of former military. If you can't send in U.S. troops officially, you simply send them in unofficially as (CIA funded) mercenaries.

It's foolish to think it's not being done today in Ukraine.

These people will cause us to lose the next election.

We have people here saying Putin was justified to support the Hamas massacre, in order to divert our weapons from Ukraine.

They are nuts.

It is foolish to make up fake stories and try to pass them off to people as fact.

“I’m claiming they are officially “former” U.S. special forces, but now officially mercs or volunteers, but still sponsored and funded by the CIA. Perhaps via some private contractor like Blackwater (though it’s now called something else).”

Well, you should have made that clear at the outset, because you come off as an unhinged agitator. And I’m sure you don’t want to come off as one.

Biden is not insane. Biden is mentally compromised. Biden is not in control. The presidency of the United States is now a function of Obama Advisors now in this administration and oddly Biden’s wife.

American special forces are already in Ukraine, fighting in CIA-sponsored “volunteer” groups.

That’s bad enough, but what Austin said was absolutely outrageous and hundreds of times worse. The dog! And our president is a dog, too. (I can call them dogs; Jesus even called people dogs. And vipers.)

A few days ago, Zeepers and neocons here on FR told me this was false - Austin only meant to say “if Russia expands the war to W. Europe, the USA would have to get involved” or something.

So which is it?

Curious - which neocon think tank or defense company do you work for?

You clearly want America at war EVERYWHERE.

I think what Tucker is trying to do here is to read the minds of the Biden administration, rather than just reporting a straightforward version of what is being said.

Austin is saying that to abandon Ukraine will likely bring Russia forward through an easier win there towards borders with NATO countries and an inevitable confrontation which by treaty would force the U.S. to respond.

One could attack that position on several grounds. Ukraine could see the writing on the wall and capitulate, preserving enough of its territory to remain a buffer between Russia and NATO. Russia already borders on Estonia anyway. Russia may not really want a direct confrontation with NATO.

I think Williams is essentially correct, Tucker Carlson is taking dog-whistle positions and trying to read minds rather than sticking with factual analysis. At the same time, I would vastly prefer a change in administration, and more pressure on Ukraine to settle with Russia, we cannot go on with this costly defence of a few enclaves which are of dubious significance or value, where a large number of residents may prefer Russia to Ukraine. Is there a principle involved? I think that question has to be answered in the context of what alternatives are possible.

As to defense of Taiwan being a “neo-con” position, I disagree. China should be deterred by all possible means from subjecting millions of free people and a free economy to communist dictatorship. And should we support Israel? The Bible gives us an answer, “I will bless those who bless Jerusalem.” There are other wars we can avoid, but those are two red lines we should not allow adversaries to cross. In Ukraine, I would be quite satisfied to see a settlement redrawing boundaries in more sustainable positions. So long as Russia does not control the lands west of the Dneiper, it is relatively speaking a win for our side. It is not worth ten years of war to save Donetsk and Luhansk, and Crimea was always Russian anyway. It is not in our interest to waste a lot of money and weaponry to support a quixotic project of keeping the Russians out of those places, they are already in (generally speaking) and will likely stay in, so what is the point?
